On Friday, members of WLU Fencing Club attended the Try This WV conference at West Virginia Wesleyan in Buckhannon, WV and gave a presentation on historical fencing as an alternative to traditional sports. Later that evening, they taught some introductory fencing drills.

Yesterday, seven WLU student fencers attended the Queen’s Rapier Championship in Moscow, PA. This bi-annual tournament is sponsored by the Society for Creative Anachronism (www.sca.org), and is the premier historical sword fighting competition for the northeast region.
Dr. Shannon Halicki, WLU Fencing Club faculty sponsor, also attended the tournament and has high praise for the student participants. “Our students fought honorably against far more experienced fencers. They work hard and I cannot wait to see what the future holds for our club.”

Welcome to West Liberty University Fencing Club’s page! We practice historical fencing in a fun, safe, and encouraging environment. All are welcome, including non-students. We practice Monday at 6:00 p.m. and Saturday at 10:00 a.m. in Blatnik Gym. Contact us at [email protected] with questions, or if you are interested in joining.
