So why is it that I can find a lot of high school games on the internet but West Lafayette High School games are so hard to find? I was not able to watch the boys capture their soccer Sectional Championship. I was able to watch the girls capture their soccer Sectional Championship. Now, the girls' feed was a Kankakee Valley feed I found on the internet. I just don't understand why West Side can't have games on the internet or the radio, like other high schools do. Heck, Lafayette Jefferson has WJEF 91.9 FM. This is an FM radio station that has been in operation since 1972. This is a radio station that;s entirely run by students. An excerpt from their website, "Jeff 92
Student-Run Radio from the Halls of Jefferson High School." I've always wondered why West Lafayette High School couldn't have a WWL or a WRDP. West Lafayette High School is one of the top high schools in the nation. Being situated, basically, across the street from a very good technological university, Purdue, there should be no reason that a WL grad in Hawaii shouldn't be able to see or, at least, listen to a game that their alma mater is involved in. Especially during state tournament time. I am a Red Devil and have ALWAYS been a Red Devil fan. Before I went to high school...while I was in high school...and all of these years after high school. We're not even affiliated on the IHSAA Champions Network. Harrison is. Lafayette Jefferson is. Twin Lakes is. Small high schools like Pioneer are. Shoot, Carmel High School has its own television station. Now, I understand that a post like this won't get instantaneous radio or television stations, but can't we, at least, get internet coverage of the teams that we follow. Boys Soccer, Girls Soccer, Girls Volleyball, Football, Boys Basketball, Girls Basketball, Baseball, Softball. These sports have internet coverage with high schools in Indiana. Why don't we? My point, then, is that we should. After all, we're not looking for Nielsen Ratings here. We're just looking to make West Lafayette High School, the West Lafayette Community, and the West Lafayette Red Devil alumni happy. To be able to watch these games instead of relying on Score Stream or Maxpreps to give me only scores would be a breath of fresh air. GO RED DEVILS!!! RDP!!!
