Nearly a decade later, I returned to Thailand to visit the majestic elephants at ethically approved sanctuaries around Chiang Mai. This journey was deeply meaningful—seeing these gentle beings cared for with such respect touched me profoundly, especially because it was the number one wish on my beloved mother’s bucket list. To witness how far these sanctuaries have come in improving the elephants’ well-being filled me with both gratitude and hope.
What a gift it is to live in a world where we can stand close to these ancient creatures—to see them, touch them, breathe the same forest air, and learn from their quiet wisdom—while also ensuring they remain safe in their natural environment.
For me, this is everything. These are the experiences I yearn for: to feel the earth beneath my feet, to inhale the fresh scent of the trees, to rest my hand on the textured skin of an elephant, and to simply observe their way of being. It reminds me that we are never walking this earth alone. Every day is an invitation to explore Mother Nature and honor all that she provides.
It is also a reminder that life is so much more than our human routines and agendas. When we step outside ourselves, we begin to see that our existence is not just about our story—but about the shared experience of all living beings on this planet.
