Back Day is ESSENTIAL for me!

Being that my back is falling apart, it is crucial I build as much muscle as I can. Having a strong back and core ensure I will be walking upright for years to come.

Before you say, you can't do this, let me share my back troubles with you.
I have advanced stage disc degeneration, nerve impingment on both sides, stenosis, and bulging disc's in the entire lumbar area of my back. One of the disc's has bulged to a point where a piece has broken off and it is migrated upward resting near my spine. The thoracic area has the same issues but at a lesser severity. I also have bone inflammation in my spine from Rheumatoid Disease.

So, my point is.....
If I didn't walk, exercise and build muscle I would in worse pain than I am, I would not be able to be so active, I would have constant sciatica and I would be in a hospital awaiting spine surgery.

After my last post, a lot of people asked what I actually DO to stay consistent with RA + Hashimoto's.

The truth is - recovery isn't ONE thing, it is a combination of habits.

One simple thing I use daily is Creatine. (See pic for the creatine I've been using lately from GNC)
Not just for strength - but for:
📍Muscle Recovery
📍Supporting Energy
📍Helping to maintain consistency even on low energy days

When you're dealing with autoimmune conditions, you don't have the luxury of pushing harder every day.
So, I focus on supporting my body however I can.
This is one of those tools. It isn't about doing everything perfectly, it's about doing the small things consistently.
RECOVERY is what allows me to keep showing up 💪

My story: Trainer with R. A. + Hashimoto's

Most people see the workouts, the strength, the consistency.
What they don't see is that I traineith Rheumatoid Arithitis & Hashimoto's.

There are days my joints are stiff before I even get out of bed. Days where my energy is gone before the workout (or workday) even starts.
But....
I still show up. Not because I feel amazing.....BUT because I've learned how to work with my body and not against it.

I've had to relearn what strength looks like and its not always heavier weights or harder workouts. Sometimes it's
📍Slowing down
📍Recovering smarter
📍Choosing consistency over intensity

That's what One Rep Closer really means to me.
It's not perfection. It's progress - on the good days and the hard ones.

Listen… between rheumatoid arthritis trying to humble me and menopause doing its own plot twist, we are OUT HERE doing the most to feel our best—and honestly? I’m not mad about it.

Because this version of us?

✔️ Still lifting
✔️ Still laughing
✔️ Just… slightly more infrared 😎

Some days I am just tired. Mentally and physically.
Some days I feel weak and have no strength.
Some days I just feel like a bloated, hormonal mess that wants to eat half a pizza. Then go back for the other half.
Some days I just CAN'T.

But...

Other days I CAN 💪
Other days I feel superhuman 🏋‍♀️
Other days I am doing a 23 hour fast.
Once in awhile the bloat goes away and I can see ab muscles.

What keeps me going "some" days?
Knowing pain is temporary.
Exhaustion is temporary.
On days I want to do NOTHING, I force myself to do just ONE of the things I don't feel like doing.
If I want to eat like s**t, I force myself to workout.
If I am to tired for a gym workout, I force myself to go for a walk.
By doing that I don't fully give in to the negative energy. This keeps me positive, focused, and feeling mentally fulfilled.

Try it!
You have nothing to lose.

Afraid you can't be your own cheerleader? No problem. Get your bestie in board with your plan. Call her in your time of crisis so she can give you a quick pep talk or encourage you to do SOMETHING instead of NOTHING.

I am hormonal. I was once overweight and out of shape. I have 2 active autoimmune diseases. I am on medication. I too have "no time". I used to eat like s**t. I was also tired. ALL THE TIME and even more so, felt like I just couldn't.

What's the difference between my Chiropractor and yours? Is your Chiropractor just aggressively "cracking" your back or neck? To you automatically tense up awaiting your Chiropractic to adjust you? That does NOT have to be your experience!

I can't say enough about this place. I am there 3 times a week and I truly believe that coming here is the only reason I don't walk hunched over, I can still workout the way I want, and most importantly no longer have sciatica.

🤷‍♀️ Guess what today's post is about?

Something I will never give power to or allow to derail me.
F*king MENOPAUSE 🙄

Here's my story.
I am a 49 yr old woman, with not 1, but 2 different Autoimmune Diseases. What luck, I know. Aside from navigating nutrition, workouts, weight gain & life, I am now also dealing with unstable hormones, hot flashes, and my favorite.....lower abdominal BLOAT. And what's up with the bag of meds I left my OBGYN with to "manage" my symptoms with?

If you are like me, you are thinking, WHAT THE HECK AM I SUPPOSED TO DO NOW?! Everything I read, hear and am told are vastly different than each other. This morning as I sat sweating in a 145 degree sauna, I decided to catch up on my Arnold's Pump Club emails. There it was. MENOPAUSE

Now stop yourself right there. I know you are thinking the Terminator? THAT Arnold? Actor, Governor, 7x Mr Olympia?! YES. That's the man. He has an article dedicated to "the curse we will no longer give a name"

He talks about how women should give up listening to their inner dialog of doubt and lost hope for a flatter stomach and increased energy. The message of his article?
🚨GET IN THE GYM & STOP DEFINING YOURSELF AS SOMEONE WITH LIMITS🚨💪

Needless to say, it made me stop and reflect on my own outlook at Menopause. I have been traveling deeper down a rabbit
hole since I slapped that hormone patch on my body. The answer is not in a bottle of supplements, an injection of GLP-1 drugs, or even what you eat. It's exercise and more importantly YOUR SELF DOUBT.
When you stop saying "I can't", and say "I CAN", everything changes. He goes on to say how big corporations are making a fortune off telling you that can "FIX" you.
Bottom line, (hope you're still reading),
"Don't let a word define you. Don't let an industry limit you"
