Day three of our 31at annoual kodanja classing, featuring the testing candidates and many visiting kodanja.

Daily update from the Tang Soo Do Mi Guk Kwan’s 31st Kodanja classing! Well, it took 14 hours of sweat and effort, but we made it through day 2 of Kodanja tired, a bit beat up, perhaps a little the worse for wear, but unbroken!

Every annual Kodanja classing comes with its own stories and unique experiences, and ours is no different. The Song of the Sip Sahm Seh says “Surprising things will happen when you meet your opponent,” and while Kodanja isn’t an “opponent,” exactly, it is a challenge that comes with its own potential surprises, and this year the challenge is … weather.

Today we found out the incoming winter storm had forced the TAC to choose to move the test schedule up from Sunday morning the sometime Saturday afternoon, throwing the schedule into a bit of chaos and upending all sorts of plans for practice and polishing our material Saturday night ahead of the test. Yikes!

But we’re a resilient group, and we’ll adapt and overcome, as martial artists train to do. It’s why we’re here. Tang Soo!
