Plus One Defense Systems provides students with a systematic approach to martial arts training, in an atmosphere that is ethical and well-rounded. We are unique and different from any school in the West Hartford Connecticut area, and our facility is top-notch. Located at 9 Tolles Street in West Hartford, CT, our martial arts school has a staff of diversified instructors and we offer instruction in

Kung-Fu, Karate, Muay Thai, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ), Aikido, Jujutsu, Freestyle Kickboxing, Judo, Boxing, Mixed Martial Arts/MMA, Capoeira, Kali/Silat, Kettlebell Training, and soft style arts… all under one roof! We are open six days throughout the week. Our facility has two floors which includes: several thousand square feet of mats, an MMA cage, a boxing ring, a full fitness center (with cardio equipment, machines, & free weights), showers, a full complement of training equipment, a wi-fi lounge, and 17 staff members. We are arguably the most fully functional martial arts academy in the state of Connecticut, and we are ready to help you reach your training goals in a variety of styles! Battle-Worn vs Battle-Washed belts. Can you tell the difference? This video explains how to do so. Something I didn't mention is that there is a meaning behind the wear of a belt, and I believe it's appropriate that the white core always shows through when a belt (regardless of the outer color) shows proper wear-and-tear. This is symbolic of the fact that you need to always have a white belt mentality towards learning. No matter how high you go, you should always be a white belt at heart... recognizing that there is always more to learn! As the expression goes, "A black belt is nothing more than a white belt who never quit."
