West Hartford Ballroom/Agora

West Hartford Ballroom/Agora Anyone who can remember anything, post a video, picture, etc... If you have any quaint little stories about this infamous facility please do not hold back.

The West Hartford Ballroom/Agora which was never the actual name for the facility at any time. The facility on 165 Dexter Ave in West Hartford CT started out as a Royal Typewriter warehouse then at some point in time after that it was a bowling alley. That didn't work due to the fact that the building was built on the old West Hartford dump and the lanes started to warp as the building settled. Af

ter that it turned into a gay club called Finocchio's. Then it was The Nite Tide. The Nite Tide became the Hard Rock Cafe'. Acts like Dave Mason and Cheech & Chong at the time didn't want to play a facility called Hard Rock, so, since there were 2 rooms to utilize we went with the name of Hard Rock/Stage West;the small room being Hard Rock and the big room Stage West. Then the other Hard Rock Cafe' (if I recall correctly...I don't know) started putting up a stink so we shortened it to The Stage West. Then the Agora Ballroom chain came in and took it over and left just as quickly but the Agora name was still being used. Then there was the West Hartford Ballroom and Music Hall, and then came 1990 and time to call it quits. This was just a very brief nutshell, so if there's anything to add?

To All MY Facebook Friends and Family,

Since Bruce will not be able to get his specialized radiation treatments, I will be using parts of these funds for his care. Our insurance covers Hospice Care but not someone to come and stay with him, while I work.

Since I am now going to be the sole breadwinner, it is imperative that I work my 4 hour/4 day schedule to ensure I stay employed while all this is happening! Also, I am going to need to order some additional medical equipment, etc. over the next few weeks.

I am hoping that anyone that has contributed to Bruce's Fund doesn't mind me using it for him for this purpose.

Just wanted to keep you aware that these funds will still be used for Bruce.

God bless!

Bruce was diagnosed with Stage 4 Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer in March of this year. We were in total shock as he had none of the expected symptoms of this disease until that time. The doctor gave him 6 - 8 months. We are in the 8th month now. We had almost lost him in March and again in May....

I went with Bruce Freedman this afternoon for his last visit with Dr. Alekshun. The doctor told him we have no more options left and this will be over soon.
Bruce accepted this with his usual optimistic manner and told the doctor he isn't giving up just yet! We said goodbye to his nurse, Amy, who thinks the world of Bruce, as well.
Even the women at the front desk have grown to love him and they ALL love "Our Story"!
Any of you that prays regularly, please pray for Bruce to go through this quickly and with little pain.
Thank you all and God Bless!

We went to Bruce's oncologist this afternoon as we planned. His doctor is withholding the Opdivo, for now. Bruce's rash is getting increasingly worse and the doctor put him on Prednisone to, hopefully, "calm it down".
He also had Bruce get another chest x-ray to rule out Pneumonitis (which can be brought on by the Opdivo). We will get the results for that tomorrow sometime.
I am continually ASTOUNDED at Bruce's positive attitude. I get off kilter easier than he does these days! When something gives him a "bump in the road" his answer is always postive, i.e., it's chemo related, it's just a rash, Opdivo will help, etc. etc. etc.
I always knew I was married to an amazing man but I have never met anyone as positive as he is!
Please keep your prayers coming! Bruce and I both believe they have helped get him this far!
God bless you all!

-Did you know that Savoy Brown opened for Cheech & Chong back in the late 60's in Detroit? According to Roger Earl "I can't remember the venue, but it was a finished wood stage with no drum riser or carpet to put the double bass drum kit on. They wouldn't let me put in nails to stop the bass drums and cymbals from moving. So we asked 4 people from the audience to sit in front of the drums and side of the cymbal stands to stop everything from sliding! Anyone remember that, and how are your ears and hands? Thank you!. And by the way. Cheech & Chong were great."
