Cornerstone Diving Club operates at Cornerstone Aquatics Center in West Hartford, CT by Head Coach, Scott Pierson, a Certified Competitive Coach by United States Diving, Inc. Scott's Credentials include:
• As a competitor, Scott was coached at the University of Miami by Olympic Silver Medalist, Tom Gompf.
• He was a contender for the US Olympic Team in 1976 on the 10M Platform event.
• Scott w
orked as Head Coach for the University of Houston where he recruited national and international divers for Division 1 NCAA competition, trained international divers for Olympic participation, and concurrently ran a children’s diving program, the Houston Diving Club, which had over 80 members and was the undefeated Texas State Champion three years in a row. An important "cornerstone" of our diving philosophy borrows the famous quote from the legendary Vince Lombardi, “Practice does not make perfect. Only perfect practice makes perfect.” To implement this adage, we adhere to the daily use of "dryland safety belt systems." Correct use of these systems provides both quantitative and qualitative advantages compared to repetitive attempts on the diving board. We are sanctioned and certified by United States Diving (USD), which oversees all aspects of Junior and Senior diving including teams to represent the United States in major diving events including the Olympic Games, World Championships, and the FINA Diving World Cups. Other well-known events include the USA Junior Olympic and Senior Diving National Championships.
