There have been recent buzz and studies on the benefits of creatine on adults over 50, women, and people with Parkinson's, Huntington's, ALS, and Alzheimer's. Personally, creatine is a supplement I started taking in college when competing in strength competitions, continued throughout my bodybuilding career, and continue to take. I advocate for it, along with a multivitamin and protein supplementation. Attached is a summary and some of the most recently published articles. The benefits are real. Consult with your Physician or nutritionist to see if it can benefit you.

We had so much fun at the Excel Fitness, GastroPark happy hour. Thank you to all who came out and also brought a new toy or warm clothing for friends and families in need. It's great to be a part of a caring community. No amount of effort is too small to help make a difference. Even a warm smile and hello can make a positive change in someone's day.

Excel Fitness, Osteoporosis Prevention and Reversal Program.

With over 30 years of experience, Excel Fitness is committed to the wellness of special populations and their unique fitness needs. Although this new small group class is new, it consists of the same great training we have been providing in our one-on-one personal training programs. Consisting of three to six people focusing on resistance training and non-impact power movements for rebuilding bone and muscle. It also includes postural corrective techniques and static and dynamic balance exercises, improving fall prevention. After the age of 30, research shows most people begin losing 1% of bone density, muscular strength, and overall functionality each year. A recent study from Harvard showed that there is a noticeable increase in bone density as a result of resistance training, while other studies show an increase of bone density between 1 and 3%. The class will contain strategic modifications of HIIT training, consisting of 3 sets of 8 to 15 repetitions. Emphasis is placed on the complete range of motion, proper posture, functional strength, and safely working to momentary muscular failure. Classes will be held weekly on Thursday mornings at 8:30 AM. Additional classes may be offered.

Happy Thanksgiving! We are grateful to give back to our community. We are collecting food, toys, and coats! These donations are all going to local families. Please consider giving or volunteering for a cause you feel strongly about. Thank you!

I volunteered Thursday morning at a local restaurant hoisting it's first free Thanksgiving Day Dinner. We fed around 300 people. Very rewarding experience.

Cardio in the summer is never enough. Wolff's Law states: that our bones become thicker and stronger over time to resist forces placed upon them and thinner and weaker if there are no forces to act against. This principle is important for preventing injuries. A thicker bone is harder to break.
