You can never hate yourself into a person that you love -

That woke me up today. It reminded me that loving myself takes practice and grace in becoming greater, not seeing how I measure up to others. “Each one should test their own actions…without comparing themselves to someone else” Galatians 6:4

What’s your relationship with comparison? Does it motivate you to be better or rob your progress?

No matter what other people are accomplishing, make sure you have a positive sense of comparison to who you were yesterday, who you are today and align your goals with JUST that. Looking up to someone can be inspiring but your journey is not theirs. Your values and life experiences could be vastly different but it does not make you any less worthy of feeling good about yourself.

Just think how far you have come from a year ago, maybe even last month! And if you’re not there yet, don’t give up; you may be closer than you think 🏆

What’s the hardest thing you’ve ever accomplished?

Backpacking over 70 miles with this group challenged me in more ways than I could have imagined. I had to give myself regular pep talks just to take a few more steps. We pushed on and experienced it together. I am thankful for the resilience I have built in this majestic land while learning a thing or two about myself and that the right hiking boots are SO important.

There are going to be times where you feel unable or don’t want to continue on your journey. Keep reminding yourself that you are a badass. Embrace that God gave you the capacity to do more than seems possible. Isaiah 49:11 ⛰

Hello, again! It’s been a while.

After neglecting my fitness page this year, I’ve been working on fresh content and will be posting more regularly. Get ready for some truth and empowerment 🙌🏻

To be transparent, I have felt stuck in a season of overwhelm, inconsistency, pain, hopelessness, fear, and disappointment but also presence, experience, joy, gratitude, resilience and genuine connection with others.

It’s easy to have a fixed mindset on the negative. Yes, it’s easier to keep your current thought patterns than CHANGE. Growth will be hard. Saying no to some things for a better yes will be hard. Surrendering the control that you think you have will be VERY hard. Sometimes, getting through each day will be the most that you can do.

I promise if you start using your struggles as a way to gain personal power over what you CAN change, it will produce radical acceptance and joy. Repetition of positive affirmations and a little self-compassion can go a long way.

Daily habits like telling yourself “I am resilient”, “I am courageous”, “I am loved”, “I am enough” will start to re-frame your perspective and eventually manifest into action and habit.

Move your body, read something challenging, take mindful breaths and please, stop beating yourself up for what you did or didn’t do yesterday. I’m here for you and we can work on becoming better together. ✌️

Mindset on change is what health and wellness is really about.

How do you strengthen your brain? Just like the rest of your body the 🧠 needs gains too! Self growth can come in many forms this way but is not always easy. Activities and concepts that challenge you WILL pay off.

To be brave (action without fear) is not the same as being courageous (action DESPITE fear) but both can be learned. Courage comes with TRUST and VULNERABILITY and one cannot function without the other 💭

I initially thought this morning “man, I better work off that fried chicken and gravy I ate last night.” Ever been there before? Instead, I thanked my body for using that delicious fuel to run.

To reframe a negative relationship with food and exercise, besides always trying to “make up” for bad habits, let go of constant shaming or it will be difficult to find lifelong joy no matter weight, body fat % or aesthetics. Start by incorporating small habits like adding spinach to your sandwich, water first, and exercise to FEEL good and strong. We are given this life to challenge ourselves but not to drain our well being.
