We are honored to receive the 2026 James F. Padgett Award from MIAMA! 🏆
Thank you to MIAMA for this incredible recognition and for celebrating excellence in the ice arena industry.
🏆 2026 JAMES F. PADGETT AWARD — ANNOUNCEMENT 🏆
Today, we honor one of the most meaningful recognitions in our industry — the James F. Padgett Award, named after a true pioneer of Minnesota ice arenas.
James “Padge” Padgett was a foundational leader in MIAMA’s early years, serving as Parks & Recreation Director for the City of Virginia and operating the historic Miners Memorial Building. His impact was so profound that in 2015, the City of Virginia renamed the back rink The James Padgett Rink in his honor. Though Padge left us far too soon, his legacy continues to shape our profession.
Each year, this award is presented to an ice arena that exemplifies leadership, innovation, and outstanding contribution to the ice arena industry.
This year’s winner receives:
✨ Two full conference registrations
✨ Double‑occupancy lodging
✨ A $2,600 value supporting continued professional growth
After statewide nominations from MIAMA Board Members and a final vote…
🎉 The 2026 James F. Padgett Award goes to:
🏅 Veterans Memorial Arena — West Fargo Park District 🏅
This facility has demonstrated excellence in operations, community impact, modernization, and industry leadership — truly embodying the spirit of Padge’s legacy.
Please join us in congratulating the entire West Fargo Park District team for this well‑deserved honor. Your work strengthens our industry and inspires arenas across Minnesota and beyond.
💙 Congratulations, Veterans Memorial Arena!
Your commitment to excellence continues the legacy of James F. Padgett in the best possible way.
