One more milestone to share from Sheyenne Speedway before we look ahead to tomorrow night’s race at Fix It Forward Speedway…
Monday night was the 100th IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car race in the Red River Valley. We started with a small and humble four car field that first year in 2021, all of whom still compete with us regularly (Tye Wilke, Brandon Rekow, Marcus Rothenbacher, and Ty Hanten).
Since then, the class has come a long ways - branching out to several area tracks, adding new drivers each year, and seeing a few drivers graduate to the 410 ranks.
Our specials have attracted drivers from all over the Midwest, including IMCA national champions, and have made for 24+ car starting fields.
None of this wouldn’t have been possible without Jake Bitker and Nick Skalicky, who brought the class to Red River Valley Speedway five years ago, and stuck with it even when car counts were slim the first couple of years.
Now, we’ve got a solid base of local cars, a nice mix of young talent and veteran experience, and a good group of drivers who want to race hard, have fun and help each other out when needed.
I can’t wait to see what the next 100 races bring us. Thank you for supporting the Red River Sprints!
