DOJO CLOSED TODAY

With apologies, the dojo will be closed today, Monday, January 13th as Sensei is feeling under the weather. Students will be able to make up today’s missed class at any chosen time moving forward. As a reminder, please stay up-to-date with the latest announcements for the dojo on our page. Again, we apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused, yet the health and well-being of our dojo family is of the upmost importance. Thank you.

Thank you to everyone who came to class this week in the Halloween spirit! We had anime stars, super heroes, princesses, storybook legends, classic toys and scary horror characters joining the ranks in karate this week. Enjoy your candy coma in the coming days, and I look forward to seeing everyone in half-gi on the mats next week! 🍭 👻 👑 🧙 🎃

Our last camp, Punches and Kicks, was a blast! Campers honed their hand techniques and focused on various kicking skills. Tomorrow begins a new camp week, and there is still time to sign up for our Kata and Drills camp! This week we will practice kata and have a lot of fun with our famous drills! Camp runs Monday - Thursday 9am - 12pm. DM to inquire about signing up your karate prodigy today!

As we approach the Fourth of July holiday, please note there will be no camp this week and the dojo will be closed Wednesday- Saturday (July 3rd-6th). Classes and Camp will resume on Monday, July 8th. Camp will focus on kata and drills. Please DM if you are interested in signing up your child for camp. Have a safe and happy 4th! 🎆

I cannot thank Maggie Frampton Beamguard enough for spending some time with us here at Goshin Dojo on June 1st for my promotion. Her article in the Seven Lakes Insider (this upcoming weekend) and The Pilot (in the coming weeks) provided a wonderful insight into what it means to earn my 6th Dan Blackbelt. I thoroughly enjoyed reading her article and reflecting on such a momentous occasion in my career. Thank you to everyone that has supported the dojo over the year’s and thank you to everyone who came out to support the dojo at the promotion ceremony. I couldn’t have done any of this without all of you!

The countdown is on! Tomorrow marks our opening day of summer camp at Goshin Dojo for the 2024 season! Come join us from 9:00am-12:00pm as we focus on the important role blocks play in karate. Summer camp wouldn’t be complete without rounding out the day with our much-loved drills! Come spend your week with us learning and growing your karate skillset. Space is limited so please DM for registration information. Bring a snack, water and a positive attitude! We look forward to seeing you this summer here at Goshin Dojo!

Thank you so much to all of the students, friends and parents who came out today for my 6th Dan promotion to make this day even more special! We had such an amazing turnout! I had a blast learning from our special guest instructor, Sensei Tim, and I know everyone else did too! Thank you to everyone who came to Ben’s Ice Cream afterwards to continue the celebration.

As we face another successful year here at Goshin Dojo, we look back fondly on 2023 and want to congratulate our students who were promoted to Black Belt over the past year. I’m extremely proud of these boys as they’ve exemplified hard work, determination and perseverance and are fine examples of our motto: “True Victory is Victory Over Self.”

Please join me in recognizing these fine young men who rose in the ranks to 1st Dan Jr. Level Black Belt and 2nd Dan Jr. Level Black Belt in 2023, and we look forward to promoting even more to this prestigious rank in 2024!
