Our Freeski FIS group just returned from a week-long, three-event NorAm in Stoneham, QC. Each of the three SMS athletes made a final in at least one of the contest formats: Rail Event (RE), Slopestyle (SS), and Big Air (BA).

• Molly Flynn — 8th place in the first-ever NorAm Rail Event
• Cosmo MacDonald — 13th in slopestyle in a deep international field of 90 male athletes
• Hunter Belle Hall — 1st place in Slopestyle and 2nd in Big Air, validating her recent World Juniors invite!

The hard work and tenacity of this group was on display all week on one of the sport’s biggest stages.

Liam Downey is back at SMS! We’re stoked! Welcome back, Sir. downer
Read more, below 👇🏽

Stratton, VT – July 31, 2025 — Stratton Mountain School (SMS) is excited to announce the return of Liam Downey to the Action Sports Team for the 2025–26 season in a newly created, cross-disciplinary leadership role: Action Sports Admissions Liaison and Coach.

Liam previously served as the Head Coach of SMS’s Freeski team from 2019 to 2024, where he built a reputation for excellence in NorAm-level coaching and athlete development. Under the mentorship of Freeski Program Director Jesse Mallis, Liam was selected for U.S. Ski & Snowboard’s Project Gold and later elected as a Coach Representative on the USASA Executive Board. His commitment to the sport and to the SMS community has left a lasting impression, and SMS is thrilled to welcome him back.
