Elmwood Country Club is one of the most historic golf properties in Central Iowa. ⛳️
Originally founded in 1896 as Marshalltown Country Club, Elmwood has been serving golfers for generations — and after finally getting out here, it’s easy to see why so many people told us we needed to make the trip.
The current course was laid out by legendary golf architect Thomas M. Bendelow, using the rolling hills and natural terrain to create a layout that makes you think on every tee shot.
During our visit, the course was in incredible shape. Pure fairways, smooth greens, strategic bunkering, and the sand/waste areas added a really cool visual look and challenge throughout the round.
Off the course, Elmwood also has a great clubhouse, pro shop, dining areas, outdoor patio, practice facilities, and a new pool coming soon — making the future of this property really exciting.
Elmwood also hosts two major events this summer:
• Jerry Johnson Legacy Pro-Am — August 18
• The Classic — August 22–23

Nebraska golf has a secret… and it’s sitting just a few minutes across the Iowa border. ⛳️

The Golf Club at Table Creek in Nebraska City seriously impressed us from start to finish.

This par-71 public course plays just over 6,300 yards and gives you a little bit of everything — rolling hills, pure greens, lush fairways, strategic bunkering, wooded areas, water, and enough native grass to punish you if you miss your spot.

The course was in fantastic shape during our visit, and the practice setup was just as strong with a grass-and-mat driving range, chipping area, and putting green.

And that par-5 approach through the trees, over the bridge, and into a small green complex? Definitely easier said than done.

Table Creek also has a full pro shop, outdoor patio, and an on-site restaurant open during select evenings and weekends, making it a great place to spend the day.

Shenandoah Golf Course is a southwest Iowa course worth knowing about. ⛳️

This 18-hole public municipal course seriously impressed us. For a city course, the conditions were fantastic — greens rolling pure, striped fairways, clean tee boxes, mature trees, elevation changes, and just enough water and bunkers to keep you thinking.

Huge shoutout to superintendent Craig and his crew for the work they’ve put into this place. You can tell they’re pushing Shenandoah toward a tournament-caliber level, and the future of this course looks really exciting.

Also… the value is hard to beat. A fun 18-hole public course with weekday rounds around $30 and weekend rounds around $35 is tough to argue with.

And make sure you watch for the 18th hole tee shot — one of the coolest finishing holes we’ve filmed this season.

might be one of the most complete public golf facilities we’ve visited in the Omaha area. ⛳️

Located in Elkhorn, Nebraska, Indian Creek offers 27 holes of championship golf, a massive driving range, a high-end clubhouse experience, and a layout that will absolutely test your game.

We played the Black Bird and Gray Hawk nines, and this course brings a little bit of everything — length, wind, water, bunkers, and plenty of shots where you need to step up and trust your swing.

It’s also home to the Pinnacle Bank Championship, a Korn Ferry Tour event, which makes the experience even cooler.

The brand new clubhouse is a major highlight too, with the Approach restaurant, Sand Room lounge, simulator bays, patios, and event space. Their official ribbon cutting is May 27 from 4–6 PM, and if you’re in the Omaha area, it’s absolutely worth checking out.

Prairie Links Golf Course & Event Center ⛳️
Waverly, Iowa

This course seriously surprised us.

For early-season conditions, Prairie Links was in fantastic shape — green fairways, smooth greens, and a layout that gives you a little bit of everything. Some holes give you room to miss, while others make you think your way around with bunkers, elevation changes, and tighter landing areas.

The clubhouse has a country club feel, the course is home to Wartburg Golf, and the overall experience is absolutely worth the stop if you’re near Waverly.

Also… that shared green with the giant rock in the middle? You don’t see that every day.

PGA Champions Tour golf… right here in Iowa. ⛳️

We had the opportunity to play in the Principal Charity Classic Spring Appreciation Outing at Wakonda Club, and it was an incredible preview of what’s coming to Des Moines this June.

The Principal Charity Classic returns June 10–14, bringing some of golf’s biggest names back to Iowa — including Miguel Ángel Jiménez, Zach Johnson, John Daly, and dozens of other legends of the game.

Tickets start at just $25, youth 15 & under get in free, and hospitality options are available as well.

TPC Deere Run is no joke. ⛳️

Home of the John Deere Classic, this course has been on our bucket list for years — and finally getting to experience it was every bit as good as expected.

What stood out most? TV does not show how much slope, contour, rough, sand, and elevation this place actually has. The greens were fast, the bunkers were massive, and the rough made you appreciate just how good the pros really are when they come here every July.

But even with the challenge, this place is incredible. The routing, conditions, views, and the iconic par 3 over the Rock River make TPC Deere Run a true Midwest must-play.
