Dial in your start line for the 2026 season with this essential putting drill!

While there’s a lot that goes into being a great putter, at the end of the day, it all starts with getting the ball rolling on your intended line. Without that, making long putts becomes more about luck than skill.

Control what you can control. I’m challenging you to make as many putts as I can from just three steps away from the hole.

Consistency here lays the foundation for success on the green!

3 reasons for a steady head through the backswing:

1. Consistent Low Point: A steady head contributes to a consistent low point in the swing arc. When the head remains stable, it can allow the club to strike the ground at the same point during each swing, ensuring solid contact with the ball. This consistency is crucial for achieving the desired trajectory and distance.

2. Impact Control: By maintaining a steady head, golfers can better control where the club makes contact with the ground. This control influences the angle of attack and helps prevent fat or thin shots. A consistent low point leads to more reliable impact with the ball, enhancing overall performance.

3. Fluid Weight Transfer: A stable head position allows for a smoother weight transfer during the swing. As the golfer shifts weight from the back foot to the front foot, a steady head can help enable a more natural and effective transfer of energy, resulting in powerful and accurate shots.

By focusing on these aspects, golfers can improve their swing mechanics and overall game.

3 benefits of performing maximum effort reps to increase swing speed in golf:

1. Increased Power and Strength: Training at maximum effort helps develop muscle strength and power, particularly in the core, legs, and arms. This strength translates into better force generation during your swing, allowing for a more explosive drive.

2. Improved Fast-Twitch Muscle Fiber Activation: Engaging in high-intensity reps stimulates the fast-twitch muscle fibers, which are crucial for quick, explosive movements. This can enhance your ability to generate swing speed and improve your overall athletic performance.

3. Enhanced Coordination: Swinging with maximum effort trains your body to coordinate muscle movements more effectively. This can lead to better timing and rhythm in your swing, enabling you to switch between speed and control more efficiently, even if accuracy is sometimes compromised during the training phase.

Incorporating these maximum effort reps can be a valuable part of a comprehensive training regimen for golfers looking to increase their swing speed.
