More hunters does NOT mean more removed coyotes!

There is a misconception that if you have multiple people or groups hunt your land, more coyotes will disappear. The fact of the matter is, more hunters typically means LESS coyotes removed.

Coyotes can become call shy quick, meaning the sound of a caller can make them run the other way. A call shy coyote is often referred to as a "Educated Coyote" which is a coyote hunters nightmare. There are many ways hunters can educate coyotes. The more calling pressure they get, the less likely they are to come in and the harder they become to remove.

If you have hunters that hunt your ground, contact them when you are having issues. Chances are, they are waiting for the right wind and situation to hunt, or they have hunted recently and are giving the ground time to recover to prevent educating the coyotes.

Reminder to all friends with dogs and cats: The next 4-6 weeks is mating season for coyotes. Please do not let your dogs out alone. The outcome can be tragic as they can & will attack/kill your pets. Just be aware it can happen to your beloved pet.
Coyote breeding typically peaks in late February and early March, the gestation period averages 58 to 63 days. Male coyotes can become more aggressive during this time of year, the long and short of it all is that coyotes always pose a risk to your dog (and other small pets). That risk increases during mating season.

Hello, and welcome to Dead Howl Predator Control. I started this page to show the predators we get throughout the year when they are in season, such as coyotes, fox, and bobcat. We'll also post about deer and other informational material about hunting in general.
