Team Tilley spent the last couple weeks in Temecula . We had so much fun!

Chai and debuted as jumpers after learning to jump this spring… what an awesome pair. They earned their first ribbons and this horse loves to jump! And we love watching them.

Kornet and continued their climb up the levels and put in solid rounds in the 1.05 Jr/Am. Kornet also won the 1.0 classic on Sunday!

Coralina got a catch rider and put lovely rounds together. Remember, this darling mare is for sale!! She is so adaptable and willing.

Franchesca debuted as a jumper in America with . This mare is unreal. She is also for sale. After being a hunter/Eq horse for the last several years, she proved she’s still got it and took a win in the 1.0 with her rider that had never shown 1.0!!!

Cielo and joined our show team for their first time together. Awesome and consistent rounds! These two make the perfect couple.

Lucifer and did BIG things. Moved up to the 1.30 and put rounds in that made their trainer proud. This horse was purchased as a 5 year old and he and Molly are experiencing all the first times together.

Dakota and continued to be a competitive pair with top ribbons. These two are fast! And we heard Dakoda has a Dutch sister coming soon!!!!

Peanut and jumped the International Derby together at just his 4th show! He is one brave and smart guy and we are so lucky to have him.

Thank you so much .s_31 for being the absolute best crew to have at home. You guys make my life so easy.

This is neat information. My add on is that I went to see a horse I sold over two years ago while we are showing at DIHP. Me and Annabelle and Molly walked towards his stall and all shrieked “Ozzy Bear” in a voice that we always used for him. He turned around and whinnied to us in his stall! The groom was shocked. He said wow he knows who you are. It was such a beautiful moment. And I was so happy to see him happy and healthy. He gave kisses and nuzzles just as he always has. Horses are a mirror to your soul. Make sure you like what you see in the mirror. ❤️

Interesting read.

👀🧠🐴 Here are 15 interesting facts about a horse's brain:

1. A horse's brain is relatively small compared to the size of its body, making up only about 0.1% of its total weight.
2. Despite their small size, horses have very complex brains, with a highly developed cerebral cortex, the part of the brain responsible for conscious thought, decision making, and memory.
3. Horses can learn and remember complex tasks, such as navigating a jumping course or performing a dressage routine, through a process called associative learning.
4. Like humans, horses have a left and a right hemisphere in the brain, each with specialized functions. The left hemisphere is responsible for logical and analytical information processing, while the right hemisphere is more involved in emotional processing and creative thinking.
5. Horses have great memories and can remember specific people, places, and experiences for many years.
6. Horses can learn by observing and can often pick up new behaviors and skills simply by watching other horses or humans.
7. Horses have a very sensitive sense of touch and can detect even the slightest pressure or movement on the skin. This helps them respond to subtle cues from their rider or guide.
8. Horses can process visual information very quickly and accurately, allowing them to avoid potential danger and navigate their environment with ease.
9. Horses are social animals and rely on non-verbal communication to interact with other horses in their herd. This communication is facilitated by the horse's brain, which can interpret subtle changes in body language, facial expressions, and vocalizations.
10. Finally, like all animals, horses have unique personalities and individual characteristics that are shaped by their experiences, genetics, and environment, all of which are reflected in their brain function and behavior.
11. Horses have a very strong sense of smell and their olfactory bulb, which processes odors, is relatively large compared to other parts of their brain.
12. The cerebellum, which is responsible for coordinating movement and balance, is also relatively large in horses. This is because horses must be able to move quickly and efficiently to escape predators or navigate difficult terrain.
13. Horses have a very high pain threshold, which is thought to be related to the way their brains process pain signals. While this can be beneficial in some situations, it can also mean that horses may not show overt signs of pain, making it difficult for their keepers to detect and treat underlying health problems.
14. The hippocampus, a part of the brain involved in learning and memory, is particularly well developed in horses. This allows them to remember not only specific experiences, but also general concepts and patterns that they can apply to new situations.
15. Finally, studies have shown that horses, like other animals, are capable of experiencing emotions such as fear, happiness, and anger. These emotions are thought to be mediated by the limbic system, a group of interconnected brain structures that play a key role in regulating mood and behavior.

Horse of the week!!!

Meet Mars! Owned by . Mars is a 9 years old Thoroughbred gelding. He is off the race track and enjoying his new career. Mars and did their first jumping show this summer and jumped up to .90cm. They even got ribbons!
Around the barn Mars loves to go out with his best friend Dakoda. Dakoda is a fellow OTTB and they are birds of a feather no doubt! They loved to play so much that they got separated this summer because they were starting to want each other too much during riding time. They learned their lesson and are back to buddies in turn out again.

**** Horse of the week ****

Picasso van’t Konigsbos known around the barn as Peanut. Peanut is a 2019 Belgian Warmblood imported in 2022. He is owned by . Like our previous spotlight horse, he is sired by Cornet Oblensky out of a mare by Draco. That means both sides of his pedigree jumped 1.60!
Peanut’s quiet nature makes him a lovely three ring horse. He is currently working on Green Hunters and will be showing at the Desert Horse Park coming up in February.
Peanut loves giving kisses and being affectionate. He is not allowed to have many treats as he becomes a Cookie Monster. So we shower him with love instead of treats.
