Know Before You Go: Electric Devices on the Eisenbahn State Trail!
Thinking of taking your electric ride out on the trails? Wisconsin state trails have specific rules to keep everyone safe. Here is a quick guide to what’s allowed and what’s not:
âś… Allowed (With Rules)
Class 1 & Class 3 E-Bikes: Allowed on trails open to bicycles, but you must keep your speed under 15 mph while the motor is running. Look out for local signs, as some trails may be posted closed to e-bikes.
Class 2 E-Bikes & Electric Scooters: Subject to local property master plans and posted signs. Local municipalities can set their own rules for these!
đźš« Not Allowed (Out-of-Class & E-Motos)
E-Motos & Modified Rides: If it exceeds 750 watts, goes over 28 mph, or has a "high-speed off-road mode," it is considered a motor vehicle—not an e-bike—and is prohibited on bicycle trails.
Ride safely! Careless or reckless riding that puts others at risk is strictly prohibited.
Let’s share the trails and keep them safe for hikers, bikers, and everyone in between!

Eisenbahn Trail Alert: Park crews will begin a bridge deck replacement project on Thursday, June 25, near the Woodridge/Stonebridge area of the trail. The project is expected to take several days to complete.

Trail users should watch for posted signs, use caution in the area, and be mindful of crews and equipment while work is underway.

Thank you for your patience as we make improvements to the trail system.

Thank you to Gov. Tony Evers for stopping in today. It's always great to have our business recognized by the City of West Bend and The State of Wisconsin.

The City of West Bend has adopted a new e-bike ordinance designed to keep pedestrians safe while continuing to support e-bike use throughout the community.

Approved last night by the Common Council, the ordinance establishes clear rules for where different classes of e-bikes may operate, including restrictions on sidewalk riding for most riders over age 16. E-bikes remain welcome on city streets, designated bike routes, and recreational trails (with some exceptions).

As e-bike use continues to grow, these updates are intended to help balance recreation, transportation, and safety for everyone who shares our public spaces!

Excited to see these plates on the road!

❤️ Feel Good Friday!

We are overjoyed by the enthusiastic response from our cycling community statewide and beyond to bring a Wisconsin Cycling Safety specialty license plate closer to reality.

THANKS to everyone who contributed to the License Plate Development Fund! With a few final pledges, we will successfully meet the fundraising goal. Yahoo!

VOTES have been tallied and the winning license plate design is featured in this post! We received 535 submissions and the landscape design received over 50% of the votes, with the other half split among the remaining design options. Yay!

WHAT'S NEXT? Bike Fed will submit the application with fee to WisDOT, and then we all exercise patience which won't be easy. But we look forward to making an announcement sometime in 2027 when the plates officially become available. In the meantime, everyone who donated $30 or more to the fund and selected to receive a gift can look forward to receiving their mini-plate(s) this year!
