There are members who belong to a Club, and then there are members who become part of its story.
For West Bend Country Club, Terry Tighe is certainly one of those people.
Terry joined WBCC in 1981 and, 45 years later, you’ll still find him out on the course regularly. At 93 years old, he continues to walk all 18 holes and has a pretty simple explanation for why golf has remained such a big part of his life:
“I don’t fish, I don’t hunt, I golf. It’s my love.”
Spend a little time around Terry and it doesn’t take long to understand why so many people around WBCC know him, enjoy playing with him and, most importantly, enjoy being around him.
He’s a proud member of the Legendary Legends, a group whose motto is fittingly simple: “Show up, pay up, keep up, shut up.” Terry recently played alongside Ronald Spears, Dennis Brugger and John Rozek, giving the foursome a combined 344 years of life experience and more golf stories than we could ever fit into one post.
But Terry’s 45 years at WBCC are about much more than the rounds he’s played.
He has served the Club, supported its caddie program and Evans Scholarship, built countless friendships and helped create the welcoming atmosphere that makes WBCC special.
And it has become a family tradition. Terry and his wife, Vicky, have been married for 65 years, while their son Kelly has now been a WBCC member for 35 years and continues the family’s involvement with the Evans Scholars Program.
Golf has given Terry a lot over the years, but he has given plenty back to West Bend Country Club too.
We’re pretty lucky to call Terry Tighe one of our own.
