The Nathan Hale Junior Huskies Football program is an opportunity for youth (grades 5-8), who are slotted to attend Nathan Hale High School, to develop their fundamental skills using the safest and most proven techniques in the game of tackle football. The Junior program is an important initial step to playing for the Nathan Hale High School team and one that can make a difference in the development of your young athlete. Most equipment will be provided by the organization, however, player's families are responsible for purchasing cleats, a mouthguard and an athletic supporter for their player. There will be approximately 120 hours of instruction from experienced USA Football certified staff with a focus on fundamental football skills, all while instilling the value of practice and the development of quality communication skills and sportsmanship. Football practices will start on Monday, August 3rd, 2026 with a mandatory parent meeting from 5:00pm-5:30pm. The season will have practices that take place Monday-Thursday from 5:30-8:00pm during the month of August at Nathan Hale. Practices will be slightly adjusted once school starts and as the weather changes. There are approximately eight home/away Saturday games in the All-American Youth Football League (AAYFL) where players compete against other conference teams. Program leadership is provided by the Junior Husky Football Board in conjunction with the Head Varsity Football Coach and Athletic Director at Nathan Hale High School which provides continuity for athletes as they prepare for high school competition -- a proven approach for optimizing success. Early registration will begin immediately at $125 for the season and will last until April 30th after which the price will increase to $150 for the season. All players must be entering 5th, 6th, 7th or 8th grade in Fall of 2026 and will have to be verified prior to participation. There is a $100 volunteer fee due at equipment pick up that upon completion of your volunteer hours, will be returned at the end of the season.
