With the West Alexander Fair quickly approaching, here's the pulling schedule, with some clarification on the rules due to conflicts between printed material and our website rules.
General rules/reminders: approximately 50 lb. variance on scales, depending on track conditions (mud, etc.). First puller (test puller) has the option to drop hook and re-hook either third or last and that decision must be made before leaving track. If track official is not informed before the next hook, test puller accepts initial hook. (Friday & Saturday only): Everyone pays at gate ($10), but arm band counts toward first entry. So with a paid admission, first hook is $10. All subsequent entries are the usual $20.
Sunday, September 6, noon: Light Farm Stock tractor pull (4500, 5500, 7500, stock [4 mph] and open [no speed limit]. Tractors must pull stock or open, not both. There's no hook limit, but the event must be concluded before 6 p.m. Class order is light to heavy.
The 7500 stock class winner will be awarded the George Marth Memorial Trophy, presented to honor one of our founding members. Winners keep the trophy for a year, until it's presented at the next fair.
Friday, September 11, 7 p.m. is the truck pull, with Tri County Truck & Tractor Pullers classes. Class order is Street Diesel 18 mph, Small Block Gas, Big Block Gas, Big Block High Output, Wild Street Diesel, and 6200 Pro Street. See their FB page for details. Event will pause at 9:30 for fireworks show.
Saturday, September 12, 4 p.m.: Heavy Farm Stock tractor pull (9500, 11,500, 13,500, 15,000, 14,000 4WD, Hot Farm). Stock and Open (no Speed Limit). Class order is light to heavy, 2 hook limit, 1 hook per class per tractor.
The 9500 Stock class winner will be awarded the Ethan Day Memorial Trophy, presented in memory of a young puller whose career was cut short. It is also a yearly trophy. With that consideration, rules for this class are meant to be as similar as possible to the class its namesake participated in most often: 5 MPH Speed Limit, 18.4-38 uncut tires, 20" hitch, factory aspiration.
All heavier stock classes beyond 9500 have a 20.8-42 uncut tire limit, 6 MPH speed limit and a 20-inch hitch.
New for this year is a trophy for the 11,500 6 MPH stock class. This is to remember former West Alexander Fair board member Glenn Dille, who passed away in 2025. Glenn volunteered decades' worth of tractor pulls at the fair and will be missed.
