ANNOUNCEMENT: Following the cancellation of Conquista Muay Thai's eagerly anticipated Inaugural Event scheduled for July 18th, and in an effort to provide clear information after receiving inquiries, we confirm that multiple investigations have been actively conducted by the Texas Department for Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) involving several individuals. Given the findings, it is possible that Local, State, and/or Federal Law Enforcement authorities could also conduct their own investigations.
Formal complaints against two former Conquista Muay Thai athletes arose after it was reported that the athletes falsely reported injuries, submitted forged medical documentation, and failed to submit medical documentation to the Texas Department for Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) for verification as required by law for legal withdrawal from their respective bouts. Other persons of interest connected to the charged individuals are also part of the investigative process.
Aside from being subject to TDLR disciplinary actions that can result in sanctions against their combative sports licenses, if the individuals are charged and found guilty of forgery/fraud in a criminal court of law, punishment can carry a 2 to 10 year sentence in a Texas State Prison.
As a company and promotion of former fighters and coaches who value the sacrifice, dedication, and hard work of its Muay Thai athletes and coaches, Cisneros Sports & Entertainment and Conquista Muay Thai categorize these actions as detrimental to the Combative Sports Industry and the growth of Muay Thai in Texas. As such, these types of actions will NOT be tolerated and we will be proactive in our cooperation to ensure that authorities prosecute to the fullest extent of the law.
Any further such inquiries regarding this matter should be directed to the TDLR.
On a positive note, and despite the setback, several athletes who were scheduled to compete in the Inaugural Event have expressed their intent to move forward with Conquista Muay Thai. A new card is being built and a new event date will be announced soon.
