I want to take a moment to share something that is very close to my heart.
Parents, please talk with your children about bullying and about the importance of being kind to one another. I know sometimes it may sound cliché to say, “Be kind” or “Don’t bully,” but those simple words and those conversations at home can truly make a difference in someone’s life.
Through Ritmo de Mi Tierra, I have the blessing of working with so many different ages, from my very little ones, to my teens, young adults, and adults. Over the years, one thing I have learned is that no matter our age, we all have feelings, insecurities, struggles, and battles that others may know nothing about. Sometimes what seems like “just a joke” to one person can stay in someone else’s heart for a very long time.
That is why I ask you parents to please keep having these conversations at home. Remind your children to be kind, to include others, to think before they speak, and to stand up for someone who may not have the courage to stand up for themselves. At Ritmo de Mi Tierra, I want my dancers to know that this is more than just a place where we come to dance. This is a family. ❤️ I want every person who walks through our doors to feel welcomed, respected, valued, and safe to be themselves.
We are all different, and that is something we should celebrate, not use to tear each other down.
Ritmo de Mi Tierra stands against bullying. Always!!
Let’s continue teaching our children and reminding ourselves to lead with kindness and compassion. We truly never know what someone may be going through behind closed doors or behind a smile. A kind word may seem small to you, but to someone who needs it, it can mean everything.
Let’s be kind to one another. Let’s look out for each other. And let’s continue making Ritmo a place where everyone knows they belong. ❤️
Mr. Adrian
