Our next hike will take place on Sunday, March 18th. We'll head out to the old Eden Park. An interesting tree, Pratt cemetery, a stream and pond, and the Smith River are just a few of the sites we'll see along the way. The hike will be approximately 2 miles; however, people may choose to hike shorter routes. These photos were taken at an earlier hike of the site. Pete Atkins is the hike leader. Meet at RCC at 2 p.m. and we will caravan to the site.

We will hike the Knight’s place in Stoneville tomorrow, on February 18.

They have on their property rocks that have holes in all different shapes and sizes. It is said to have, “pockets of quartz that were inside the rock.” We will see these unusual rocks, have stream beds to walk, and talk about history of the rocks. We will also plan to play around the creek. (Easy Hike) We will leave RCC at 2:00 p.m.

Hello All, our next hike is this Sunday, November 19 at High Rock Ford on the Haw River. This historic site was a rallying point for General Nathaniel Greene’s troops during the American Revolution. The first known gristmill in the county was erected here in 1753. Remains of the rock dam are on the site. Jordan Rossi, Executive Director of the Museum and Archives of Rockingham County (MARC) and Bob Carter will lead the hike. (Easy)

We will leave from RCC at 2 p.m.

Our next hike is this Sunday! We'll leave RCC at 2:00 p.m. We will hike a portion of the old colonial Moravian Petersburg Road that crosses the Mayo River at a shallow fording place known as “the Mayo Ford.” The property is behind the old K-Mart in Madison and is now part of the Mayo River State Park. Bob Carter, County historian, will lead the hike. (Moderate Hike)

site. This is not a marked trail, so prepare to protect your legs. (Moderate Hike)
