Thank you to everyone who took the time to share your thoughts and provide feedback. We truly appreciate the time and effort that went into all of the comments and suggestions.
While we can assure you that we did research the option fully of using the Trojans logo, unfortunately, that is not something we are able to use so we are moving forward.
We want to emphasize that we are proud to be part of the Wendell community and fully support the Wendell School District and our Wendell Trojans Athletes/Community. Our goal, however, is to create a distinct identity and build excitement around Wendell Recreation District sports and programs.
We are looking for a mascot that can help create distinction for our Wendell Recreation District spirit, excitement, and a sense of identity for all of our athletes and families.
Additionally, we want to support/provide our amazing cheer group a recognizable mascot that they can use to create fun and engaging cheers and help build athletic community spirit around our Recreation District programs. (Try creating a cheer with "wendell recreation district" into a cheer for kids)
We appreciate everyone’s input, support, and understanding as we continue working through this process. Please be on the lookout for additional updates as we move forward! If you have additional comments or wish to be heard additional on viewpoints relating to mascot selection or otherwise, I invite you to attend our rec board meetings where we work hard to bring new ideas, plans, programs and more to our Wendell community.
