Pine Creek Challenge

For those who have been visiting this page and making their run list for the year, I'll open registration for next year's event January 1. I know I'm one who needs money on the line to get the training in.
We've held pricing to the same as last year.
We'll have the same great course, the same outstanding volunteers and a good time again.
Mark off September 12th on our calendars.

We added a tracking link late in the week before. There was a glitch in the system and it didn't work. We'll get that sorted out before next year.

Home after a long weekend at the races.
The bit of rain at the start didn't dampen the runners for long. Lots of smiles from the runners as they passed by the start area and again as they finished. Lots of praise for our hard working volunteers. The volunteers had as much good to say about the runners and all our volunteers are planning to come back next year.
A couple of tweaks will make it even better next year.
Mark off the weekend after Labor Day, Sept 12. 2026 for the next time.
If anyone has a story to tell, send it and I'll post it to share. Like the pair of runners who had a bear cross the trail between them. Or the runner who saw an eagle catch a fish.

Registration is now closed. We are at 204 runners among all 4 distances, right about where we usually are. Aid station supplies are piling up in my sunroom, getting sorted in to the individual boxes. Tents have been set up and checked over. Generators and water tanks have been confirmed.
Runners are getting nervous and checking how many pairs of socks to bring. They are looking at the long range weather forecast, which looks pretty good, temps in the 70's on Saturday.

Just a reminder to all those who are ramping up miles and refining strategies, there is a price increase July 15.
You know you want to do this, get off the fence and get registered. Save a few bucks to buy a new f***y pack.

This photo is appropriate as we come to July 4th.
One year the Challenge fell on Sept 11th, 9/11. This runner carried an American flag 100 miles.
Let's all remember we get to do fun things in safety because there are people out there doing the hard, not fun, stuff.

I hope you all are out getting miles in. I know I'm glad to see the winter gone.
Now that everybody has begun training, it's time to pick your races for the year to put those miles to good use. The Pine Creek Challenge is getting regular registrations and is shaping up to be the usual good time.
100 miles, 100 kilometers, 50 miles, marathon, pick your challenge.
On the Pine Creek Rail Trail, northern Pennsylvania in early September. September 6th, the weekend after Labor Day.

Thanks to everyone who replied to our survey. It sounds like we are putting on a great event overall. A couple things we can tweak, though. Apologies to the 50 mile runners for not having the turn around marked. No extra charge for the bonus miles, but there will be a sign there next year.
And my fault for for misjudging on the mens large shirt count. I ended up with lots extra mens medium, short on the large. They were mailed yesterday to anyone who didn't get one at check in.
