Quick ICF curing tip 👇

Your monopour can test perfect on the cylinders and STILL crack — if you skip the cure.

The foam’s got your walls covered (literally) — it holds moisture in the concrete for you. But your exposed floor and bond beam are wide open to sun and wind. In 80-90° heat that surface flashes off fast, and that’s textbook plastic shrinkage cracking.

ACI 308 says 7-day wet cure minimum. So:

• Soaker hose on the floor and bond beam — keep it visibly damp the whole 7 days
• Or hit it with curing compound right after you finish
• Pour early morning so it’s not drying out before you get cover on it

A few things people don’t think about:

→ It’s not just heat — wind is the silent killer. A dry breeze pulls surface moisture faster than direct sun does. Watch your evaporation rate, not just the thermometer.

→ Curing and strength aren’t the same clock. Concrete keeps gaining strength for weeks, but the first 7 days is where you win or lose the surface. Get those right and the rest takes care of itself.

→ Don’t flood it cold. Blasting hot green concrete with cold hose water can thermal-shock the surface. Keep it damp and steady, not a cold soak then bone dry.

→ If you use a curing compound, check it’s compatible with your plaster, tile, or membrane finish — some compounds leave a film you’ll have to grind or etch off before bonding. Read the label before you spray.

→ A skipped cure shows up months later, not on pour day. The crack you’re chasing next spring usually started in the 3 days nobody watched the slab.

Cheapest step in the build, first one everybody rushes. Don’t skip it. 💪

60-Mil PVC Membrane Care: Pool Chemistry Mistakes to Avoid
✅ Protecting your thick PVC membrane, such as Cefil 60 mil, is actually very simple and does not require a chemistry degree. With just a few good maintenance habits, your water can stay crystal clear while the membrane remains vibrant and beautiful for decades.

✅ A Simple Weekly Routine That Protects Your Pool. Use this simple checklist:
Test pH, alkalinity, calcium hardness, and chlorine every week
Adjust only one chemical at a time
Wait 4–6 hours before retesting the water
Brush pool walls and floors twice per week
Run the filtration system at least 8–10 hours daily during swim season
Add preventative algaecide after heavy rain or large pool parties
Maintain cyanuric acid levels between 30–50 ppm
Replace 20–30% of the water annually to reduce dissolved solids buildup
✅ Pro Tips:
Always pre-dissolve powdered chemicals in a bucket of pool water
Never pour acid directly into the skimmer or against pool walls
Use a pool cover whenever possible to reduce UV exposure and chemical consumption
Apply metal sequestrants if your pool uses well water or contains high metal content
Consider installing a salt chlorine generator or UV sanitation system for gentler water treatment
