Friends!!! UPDATE!!!! We are currently 16 beds short for our 2023 Season.
It’s that time of year again where I am on the search for gracious host families for my upcoming 2023 summer collegiate baseball season. ⚾️⚾️⚾️
Hi, my name is Sheldon Howell. I am the commissioner for Kansas Collegiate League Baseball. (KCLB) Myself and my wife (Ashley) and two children, (Scout and Banx) live in NW Wichita, but we are looking for host families for your Wellington Heat organization in and around the Wellington area. 📍📍
We would love to connect with potential families here.
What is a host family you might ask? Well, we run a non-profit 501c3 collegiate level baseball team here in the summer time. Our team brings in ball players from all over the country and internationally to play baseball right here in the Wellington area.
The biggest challenge though is having safe places for these ball players to stay for 2 months. (June and July)
As you can imagine, these fellas go to college and play ball all year long, so they don’t have much extra time to work or make money, so they desperately need places to stay in the summer to continue to work on their craft and not break the bank.
You don’t have to be an empty nester either, our guys make the best out of any situation, extra room, pullout couch, air mattress, bunk beds, we've done it all.
We have young kiddos and we host. My kids love that they get to have some older brothers around for the summer, and we build life long relationships with these guys and their families. You are not required to provide or adopt these guys, just a safe place to sleep and do laundry. (They do get dirty at games.) 😂🤣

Unfortunately, the Season Opener is NOT going to be able to happen today due to the rain, however, the "Heat & Greet" is still on and moved inside!
The players and coaching staff will be at Memorial Auditorium tonight from 5-7 to sign autographs and meet the community.
Thanks to Devour Food Truck, we will also have FREE smash burgers while supplies last, along with yard games set up!! Stop by tonight and Meet the Heat!

The Wellington Heat made changes to their ownership and coaching staff on Aug. 31 but after four months since the news was announced, you can have the opportunity to meet them.

In 1935, Raymond “Hap” Dumont hosted the first NBC National Tournament in Wichita, Kansas at Lawrence-Dumont Stadium. This year we are celebrating the 87th NBC World Series powered by Evergy. We are excited to continue Hap's legacy here in Wichita!

This is a photo of the first champions, including the legendary Satchel Paige. Hap offered Paige $1,000 to bring his barnstorming team from Bismarck, North Dakota to Wichita.

Baseball is BACK!!! Time to head out to Hibbs-Hooten Field and root, root, root for The Wellington Heat !!
