The Lady Riders are heading into the postseason with strong momentum, closing out their regular season on a four-match winning streak and victories in five of their final six contests. The team has found its rhythm at the right time, building confidence as tournament play approaches.

Individually, Laney Lytle led the way in singles competition, finishing with a team-high 13 wins, while Allison Best followed with an impressive nine victories. The duo also proved dominant in doubles play, sharing the team lead with 11 wins together.

The Lady Riders will look to carry that success into the OVAC Tennis Tournament, set for tomorrow and Tuesday, which will serve as a final tune-up before they compete in the Regional Tournament next week.

Yesterday evening, the girls traveled south for a matchup with their OVAC rival, the Brooke Bruins. The Lady Riders came home with a 4-3 victory. Laney Lytle and Allison Best picked up wins in Singles play for Weir. The Doubles pairings of Lytle/Best and Mila White/Laila Weaver (via tiebreaker) also came home victorious. The Lady Riders now hold a 3-5 overall record and are 1-3 in OVAC matches. Weir will travel to John Marshall tomorrow for an OVAC matchup with the Monarchs.

The Lady Riders traveled to Jackson Park in Parkersburg this evening for a doubleheader against Regional opponents Parkersburg Catholic and Williamstown. The ladies won the first match and dropped the second match to come home 1-1 on the day. Their record now stands at 2-5 for the season and 2-4 in Regional play. Against Parkersburg Catholic, Laney Lytle, Allison Best, Megan Gaston, and Mila White earned victories. This was Mila’s first varsity win in Singles play. In Doubles, Lytle/Best and Addison Truax/Laila Weaver (via forfeit) also earned wins for Weir.

Tomorrow, we will travel south to take on OVAC rival, the Brooke Bruins.
