The Spartans played an intense & fast-paced 1st tournament game but were unable to overturn Summit's lead during last night's matchup. Timberline will play again on Monday, 1-18-13 @ 11:00 a.m. @ the LCSC Activity Center in Lewiston , ID.
SUMMIT 62- TIMBERLINE 46
Matthew Schwartz scored 18 points as fourth-seeded Summit downed No. 5 Timberline 62-46 on Monday night in the first game of the 1A Division II segment of the District II boys' basketball competition at Lewis-Clark State.
Shane Stubbers collected 12 points and 14 rebounds for the Patriots (8-13), who took control by winning the second quarter 15-4. Josh Lustig added 14 points.
Derrick Vargovich produced 15 points for Timberline, which used defensive pressure to cut its deficit to 10 points in the second half.
When the tournament picks up on Friday, Summit faces No. 1 Nezperce at 6 p.m. and Deary meets No. 2 Kendrick at 7:30.
Timberline and Highland will not play again until Monday.
