Over the last week, we've had several club members complete the Chicago Marathon and one complete the Toronto Marathon! Huge congratulations to Jessica, Mike, and Sid for racing Chicago and Erick for racing Toronto! Also, congrats to Sid and Erick for running marathon PRs - awesome job guys!

Skyline Member Memento (Round 2):

This week were introduced to Mike Tanowitz . A beast of a runner who is both kind and uplifting to all who are around him.

* A brief introduction of who you are and what you’re about.
Hi, I am Mike Tanowitz and I am a resident of Weehawken, NJ. I work in the manufacturing sector focused on Flexible Packaging. When I am not working or running I love to go on adventures with my wife and dog.
* Where is your favorite place to run?
One of my favorite parts of traveling is exploring the various places on foot running through them. While that is always great, whenever I come home I am reminded how perfect the waterfront along the Hudson is for running. Nothing beats it!
* How did you discover Skyline Run Club and what do you enjoy most about it
I discovered Skyline by chance. They were meeting outside of the Whole Foods for a run while I was going in to buy some eggs. After a quick conversation with the group I knew it would be a great fit. The best part about the club is the enthusiasm every member has for each other. SRC is the most supportive and encouraging group of people I have ever been around.
* Have any running goals? Goal time or places you want to run
I am about to start my training block for the Philadelphia Marathon and cannot wait to get into the grind. As always, the goal is to do the best I can while having fun. A PR wouldn’t be too shabby either!
* Do you have any inspirational quotes or a positive message?
A phrase I always think of is “Running is a choice, not a chore”. We do this for no other reason than enjoyment!

* A brief introduction of who you are and what you’re about.
Hi, my name is Alexandra Bermudez and I currently reside in Union City, New Jersey. I am an Electrical Engineer and another happy mother runner of a 2-year-old toddler.
* Where is your favorite place to run?
I love running along the Hudson River waterfront in New Jersey. My favorite place is Palisade Park. In New York, I enjoy running in Central Park.
* How did you discover Skyline Run Club and what do you enjoy most about it?
I found out about Skyline Run Club through one of its members, Julia Oldman. I met her at my first NYRR 10k Queens Citizen volunteer event. She asked me where I lived, and I told her I lived in NJ. When she asked if I belonged to a team, I said no. That’s when she told me about Skyline Run Club and their training schedule. I decided to join them for a long run and I was instantly drawn in. What I love most about the team is its multicultural vibe.
* Have any running goals? Goal time or places you want to run
Yes, I have many goals. One of them is to complete the six majors. Another goal is to achieve a sub-4-hour marathon time. Lastly, I would like to run the Walt Disney World Marathon.
* Do you have any inspirational quotes or a positive message?
To complete a marathon, you must always maintain mind over body and a lot of heart and enjoy the path.

5 years of Skyline Run Club was 5/15/24. As a way to celebrate, in run club fashion, we will meet at 6:30pm at our usual spot (Lincoln Harbor Park) for a 5K fun run or 30 minutes followed by some Pizza and BYO drinks at The Estuary. Come join us for a fun time in celebration of these amazing 5 years together. 🤙

Debuting our first ever chapter outside of the NYC area! Skyline is in DC with our very own running the ship. Incredibly proud of what Skyline is and looking forward to showcasing it to the people of DC. If you’re in the Washington DC area and looking to meet some like minded runners, come give us a try. Ismael will be there at 8:05am and 6:05pm at Franklin Park near the fountain. 3 scenic miles through some historic locations. Hope to see you there 🤙
