Today marks the 35th anniversary of me shooting my first wild turkey. I remember writing a story about the hunt and submitting it to Turkey Hunter magazine. I was so excited when I was notified that my story was being published.
This afternoon my wife and I traveled to Foxborough, Massachusetts to attend Chuck DuPont’s Tri County Strutters annual fundraising banquet. Chuck, his wife Donna, and the rest of the committee did an outstanding job supporting the mission of the National Wild Turkey Federation.
I also want to thank Keith Fritz for engraving one of my favorite quotes from poet laureate Colonel Tom Kelly into a piece of black slate that was removed from a 150 year old house! This plaque will have a special place in my den.
Fast forward to today, I can honestly say that my passion for pursuing the wild turkey has never wavered! Having “Gobblin’ Fever” is a wonderful disease, and I thank God everyday for allowing me to pursue this magnificent game bird!
