LAKE COUNTRY PEDALERS FOURTH ANNUAL GANDY DANCER BIKE RIDE
On Saturday October 4, 2025, five Lake Country Pedalers rode the Gandy Dancer Trail from Danbury WI to St Croix Falls WI. Allen, Andrea, Chuck, Elizebeth, and Lisa, rode the forty eight mile limestone trail in five hours of biking time, an average speed of 10 MPH. Glen and Kim joined the group ride for ten miles. With rest stops, pictures, and a prolonged lunch, the ride took seven and one half hours.
With the lack of rain, trail conditions were excellent for the two E Bikes and three non-motorized bikes in the group.
The exceptionally warm October weather of 89 degrees and an 18 MPH head wind made the ride challenging. Water supplies dwindled quickly and sourcing water along the trail became a task. Many of the communities that the trail passes through, do not have a water source near the trail.
With no bodily injuries, small leg cramps, one flat tire that was repaired hastily, and a bent rim that was still useable, the ride was an exciting, fun and an enduring experience.
All looked forward to a car ride back home and bananas when they arrived in St Croix Falls. Andrea supplied the bananas for a snack and to ward off leg cramps.
Respectfully yours,
