Jennerstown Speedway Complex race wrap up. Thank you to everyone at Jennerstown who made this race happen.
This would be a long awaited late model travel race that we had circled on the calendar for awhile . The season and all its rain moved the date many times but that weekends weather was perfect. I want to thank a few people for all their help at the race track.
Sarah Joslyn -really worked hard all weekend. I give her the business but we would not have been able to do it with out her.
Teresa Aumann- our eye in the sky. She was on baby watch for her first grandchild. Luck for us the baby is a race fan and waited a bit to be born! B.Cornell Racing- and James Mayle for helping us out with things Saturday at the track.
Brian Sprague -for taking the day off Friday to oversee all that was going on . It was really nice being at the track with him. When Jacob raced compacts we spent many race weekends with him .
Ok so on to the race recap.
On friday we unloaded for Jacobs 4 hour practice. We have never had 4 hours of practice and we were looking forward to using every minute of it! On lap 2 I saw Jacob’s front tires sliding through the corners . I know we had lots of work to do. Jacob made the call to make 1,000,000 changes in that 4 hours, and just like that the 4 hours was gone! We packed up for the night and tried to digest what we had learned.
Saturday morning
We ended up with 4 more hours of practice so another 1,000,000 changes and some tires. Thanks to Jeff Brown for some drivers advice . Jacob managed to make the car handle much better.
Qualifying
Jacob had the 10th fastest time of 22 cars and started 10th for the 101 lap race.
The race
101 laps with a 50 lap 1/2 way mark for fuel and minor adjustments .
Jacob was racing was solid and made his way up to 8th place. We made minor adjustments during the 1/2 way mark and Jacob went on to finish the race in 11th place. It was a good day and a great experience for our little team. This makes us want to go to more “away” races with larger fields of cars.
We wanted to give a special thanks to Buck Catalano who has been giving Jacob some experienced driving advice and also for his all around support.
We also wanted to thank some people (who don’t want to be mentioned !)and give a big shout out to you for a couple of tires and pit pass money and all of your support you have given to JFG! You know who you are and please know that we really appreciate you !
Thank you to all of our team mates
