🏁 THE END OF AN ERA 🏁
After 12 years of Daniel Ayers racing Hobby Stocks, this one hits a little differently.
This Victory chassis has been sitting for the last two years, and today it’s finally headed off to its new home. It’s bittersweet seeing it go because this wasn’t just a race car. There are a whole lot of memories, long nights, wins, heartbreaks, busted parts, checkered flags, laughs, frustration, and lessons wrapped up in this car.
Daniel spent 12 years behind the wheel of a Hobby Stock, racing under both IMCA and USRA sanctions. Over those years, he collected wins, trophies, great finishes, and plenty of nights where we loaded it back on the trailer wondering what the hell just happened. 😂 But that’s racing.
There were feature wins that made every late night in the shop worth it. There were nights the car was absolutely hooked up and nights where nothing seemed to go right. There were rivalries, friendships, battles door-to-door, torn-up race cars, and countless memories made at tracks with people who eventually became more like family.
One of the memories that will always mean the most came in 2023, when Daniel ran the “4Dad” number in honor of his dad, Richard Ayers. That night, he went out and WON. 🏁❤️ That is one of those racing memories you simply can’t replace.
Hobby Stocks were where Daniel spent more than a decade learning, competing, winning, struggling, rebuilding and coming back the next weekend to do it all over again. This class was a huge part of our lives for a very long time.
Eventually it was time for a new challenge and a new chapter with the Stock Car, but you never really forget where you came from.
Today we’re saying goodbye to one of the last physical pieces of that Hobby Stock chapter.
I know it’s only metal, tubing, a motor and four tires to some people…but racers and racing families know better. Race cars carry memories.
We sure had some damn good ones with this one. ❤️🏁
Goodbye, old girl. Take care of your next driver and hopefully you have a few more checkered flags left in you.
12 years. Two sanctions. A whole lot of laps. A whole lot of memories. One hell of a chapter. 🏁
