Meet Hermes and Butters โ a team of horses who spent the week carrying cowboys through smoke, fire, and miles of rugged country; searching for cattle scattered by the fires.
They worked through the heat and chaos, navigating ground made even more unforgiving by the fire โ doing the kind of work that reminds us just how much heart, trust, and grit can be found in a good horse.
After the smoke settled, we had the privilege of giving these four-legged heroes some much-deserved rest and recovery. They were sore, tired, covered in cactus; but still willing to stand quietly while we pulled spines out one by one.
There are a lot of people โ and horses โ who quietly show up when things get hard. Weโre incredibly grateful for the firefighters, first responders, ranchers, volunteers, no profit organizations, neighbors, and everyone else who worked tirelessly to protect livestock, homes, and our community.
Thank you to Butters, Hermes, and all the other horses still out there. ๐ค
