We constantly prioritize our horses over our own wellbeing.

And I get it. They run their hearts out for us and they absolutely deserve the best.

But part of giving them the absolute best also requires you to prioritize yourself so 𝙔𝙊𝙐 can be the absolute best for them.

You will only be able to be a version of the athlete you could be for your horse if you’re not willing to put the work in on yourself.

👉🏼 So how bad do you want to be better?

👉🏼 How bad do you want to win?

👉🏼 How bad do you want to be the best for your horse?

If you truly want it, you’re going to have to start taking care of yourself and working on yourself so you can be the jockey your horse deserves.

If you’re looking for someone to 𝘮𝘢𝘬𝘦 you do the workouts & eat the food, you will never get where you want to be.

❌ No one can physically make you do the workouts.

❌ No one can physically force the right food in your mouth.

❌ No one can physically make you drink the water, get the sleep, work through the mindset issues.

All of that falls on 𝘆𝗼𝘂… no one else.

Can you get the right plan to follow, the right guidance, the right support from a coach to help you get results? 𝗔𝗯𝘀𝗼𝗹𝘂𝘁𝗲𝗹𝘆.

But they can’t 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲 you put in the work and follow the plan.

That’s on you.

Having visible abs isn’t going to fix the issues you’re having in the arena 👀

I’m tired of seeing barrel racers waste their time with things that aren’t actually going to do anything for them in the arena.

So instead of doing that, start training smarter with programming specifically designed to get you results in the arena.

If that feels harsh, it’s probably because there’s some truth in it for you.

These horses don’t owe us a damn thing.

They could care less about the checks, the buckles, the recognition that comes with winning.

They give us everything they have every single run simply because we ask them to.

So knowing that, why is it so easy to find an excuse to not do the things that are going make us the best partner for them…?

Why is it so easy to push off the training, the mobility, the actually fueling your body (read not living on Red Bull & junk food), the things that are going to help you perform at the same level as you expect from your horse…?

These horses don’t owe us anything yet make our wildest dreams come true…

The very least we can do is put in the work to be the very best we can be for them.

And that means making yourself as much of a priority as you make them.

If this is still your mindset, you’re 𝗮𝗹𝘄𝗮𝘆𝘀 going to the problem in the arena...

Is time in the saddle and active movement beneficial? Absolutely.

However, it’s not the thing that is going to move the needle forward in improving your performance in the arena.

By dismissing the importance of putting in the work on yourself as an athlete outside of the saddle, all you’re going to do is reinforce bad habits you’ve created because of your weaknesses.

It’s no different than addressing your horse’s weaknesses by doing different exercises and drills off the pattern to make them quicker, snappier and overall faster when they do make a run.

If you ignore your horse’s weaknesses, they’ll pick up bad habits to get around those weaknesses and your horse will never reach their full potential in the arena...

The same is absolutely true for you.
