Mapleton Gun Club

Mapleton Gun Club The Mapleton Gun Club was formed by a group of local sportsman in 1959 to be a trapshooting club.

Membership is required to use the range, except on Thursday nights when the club is open to the public for trap shooting only.

Mapleton Gun Club Newsletter Jan 01, 2025

Wishing everyone a safe and prosperous new year. A reminder if you have not already renewed your membership you have till the end of March, or the price goes up.
Many clubs around us have started raising their membership prices due to inflation. With your timely renewal we hope to avoid that. Your membership allows us to continue to function we have had water well and other plumbing problems this year. Its not cheap to repair we can tell you that, but our founders must have done a decent job back in the fifties to last this long. We hope to get back to improving the range and ordering targets, but man plans, and God laughs is correct.

Hi All! The new news letter is up and available on https://www.mapletongunclub.com/ . Also items have been added to the calendar, a veterans group will be using the club house and part of the range on Friday evening, Saturday and part of Sunday. Ranges are still open but space may be limited.

We hope everyone is enjoying the summer and doing well. We have some concerns we want to share with the membership.
We are working on improving the rifle range and have looked at several options. Right now were leaning to have new wooden benches built that would accommodate left or right hand shooters, The benches we like are the ones we saw in use at Louisville Gun Club. There are some other ideas like have a cement block and cement top. We need someone who can give estimates and build these units for the shooting range. If you are interested come to the club on Thursday evening or the meeting night. Meeting is always the first Wednesday of the month at 7:00 o’clock.
Another concern is our Treasurer is retiring from the position this fall. After several years he feels its time to move on due to health and family concerns. We really need someone who would take on this task. The retiring treasurer will train and be there for questions as they arise. You will not be just thrown the checkbook and say figure it out.
With the size of our membership and the skills that are out there we really need your help to continue to operate this club. Please seriously consider helping with these concerns. This club has always been operated by volunteers to keep our costs low.

Hopefully everyone that wants to have renewed their membership for the year 2024. Thank you for your renewal its appreciated. New memberships are still available for those wishing to join.
On our calendar we have a Tri-County Trap League shoot on April 14th 2024 from 8:00 am to right about 1:00pm. During this event there will be no rifle or pistol shooting till completed.

Trapshooting is always open to the public on Thursday Evening from 6:00 pm till the last dog goes home. You do not have to be a member to shoot trap this evening. Beginners are always welcomed to come and try this sport.
April 16th the range will be closed for a private event from 12 am till 6pm. No side shooting till the event is finished.

#1 The renewal letters are in the mail. You should receive yours at least by early next week. Thank to all who helped with this mailing.

#2 November 3rd, 4th and 5th in conjunction with waste management we will be sponsoring a program for wounded veterans to have an archery hunting opportunity. They will be gathering at the club before being taken to their stands and meals. This should not limit shooting opportunities too much but please take it consideration if using the range these days.

#3 November 11th will be the date for the appliedfreedomacademy.com training for concealed carry license. This was rescheduled due to a scheduling error.
#4 The club will continue to open on Thursday evening for Trapshooting at 6pm. If you have never tried trapshooting beginners are always welcomed.

Some new things to consider and note for Mapleton
Gun Club.
#1 We need some help if your available Oct 16th to stuff envelopes for
the membership renewal. We will start at 5pm on this date. We will
provide pizza for those helping with very important project. Bring the
husband, wife or boy or girl friend if they get along together.
