Wayne County 911 and EMA have introduced Hyper-Reach, a state-of-the-art emergency notification system, to enhance public safety. Fully operational as of March 1st, the system rapidly alerts residents about local emergencies via phone calls, text messages, emails, and smart devices like Alexa-enabled speakers.

Hyper-Reach delivers thousands of alerts within seconds and integrates with FEMA’s Wireless Emergency Alerts (WEA) to notify mobile users of critical situations, including severe weather, criminal activity, and missing persons.

“Our goal is to protect Wayne County efficiently and affordably,” said Tom Windland, 911 Director. “Hyper-Reach provides everything we need at a great price.”

How to Enroll:

Early Sunday morning The Wayne Fire Protection District and Wayne City EMS were dispatched to a reported attached garage fire at 285 county road 400 east. Arriving units were advised by a neighbor that one, possibly two people were still inside the home. Crews began searching bedrooms above the garage and in the home. An unresponsive male was located and removed where life saving measures were started by Firefighters, state police, Wayne County Deputies, and Wayne City EMS. He was transported to a hospital were he later died.
Agencies assisting on scene were Dahlgren fire, McLeansboro fire , and Jefferson fire. Mt Vernon Fire and Webber fire provided station coverage in case of another call. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the state fire marshals office and is not being considered suspicious at this time. WFPD #1 would like to thank all responding agencies and extend our thoughts and prayers to the family.
