To all Breast Cancer survivors, warriors, and those living with Metastatic Breast Cancer,
Here’s your reminder that it’s OK to hate October.
It’s OK to hate pink.
And it’s OK if all of the talk about breast cancer awareness sometimes brings up more pain than inspiration.
It’s also OK to feel differently about it every year, every day, or even every hour.
For some of us, October brings hope and connection. For others, it brings memories that are still painful to process.
Remember that there’s room for all of it, and that you will never owe anyone a brave face or a positive spin.
Yes, let’s keep encouraging awareness, screening ,and early detection. Let’s educate our community and share our experiences for the benefit of our neighbors.
But let’s also remember the real people behind the pink.
To those navigating life after treatment, those currently in treatment, those living with metastatic breast cancer, and everyone missing someone they love: you are always in my heart.
Your story, your loss, and your feelings will always matter – long after October fades.
Signed,
A fellow survivor 🤍
