Cycle Test Day. šŸ‘€

Today we’re retesting Beebop & Runsteady.

2,400 meters of running.
100 bar-facing burpees.
One goal: see what changed.

We first tested this on July 21, and today isn’t about comparing your score to the person next to you. It’s about comparing it to you at the beginning of this cycle.

Did your running get more consistent?
Can you recover faster between efforts?
Can you hold a better pace when the burpees start adding up?

This is why we test and retest.

The work between the two dates is where fitness gets built. Today, we get to measure it.

See you at the whiteboard. šŸ’œ

Why do we go upside down in CrossFit? šŸ™ƒ

Inversions aren’t just about getting a handstand or knocking out handstand push-ups.

Going upside down asks your body to solve a familiar problem in an unfamiliar position. Your shoulders have to support you. Your core has to keep you organized. Your hands become your base, and your balance and body awareness get challenged in a completely different way.

It’s strength, stability, coordination, and control all working together.

And like everything in CrossFit, there’s a progression. Maybe today it’s a pike hold. Eventually it could be a wall walk, handstand, or handstand push-up.

The goal isn’t simply to be upside down.

It’s to become more capable in every position your body can safely learn to own.

Swipe to find out your members of the month for September!šŸ’Ŗ

Homero has been with DOD for just 8 months, and we’ve loved watching the progress he’s made in that time.

He comes in ready to work, challenges himself, and continues to get stronger week after week. But what stands out to us most is his reason for doing it. He wants to be strong, capable, and set an example for his daughters, just like his wife Cristina did for him.

From improved sleep and more energy to saying goodbye to years of shoulder pain, Homero is already seeing how much consistency can change things.

He’s also proof that you don’t have to be an athlete before walking through our doors. You start where you are, we meet you there, and then we build.

We’re proud to name Homero one of our Members of the Month. šŸ’œ

Natalie’s return to CrossFit is one we’re excited to celebrate.

After five years of CrossFit before having her girls, she stepped away for a season. Now she’s two months back in, getting her kipping back, getting stronger, and rediscovering just how much she’s capable of.

For Natalie, training has a purpose. She wants to feel good, be strong, and always be able to keep up with Wesleigh and Ryleigh. And having Will alongside her makes it even better.

We also love her perspective on starting: being nervous means you care. Walking through the door takes courage, and one nervous decision can turn into something you’re incredibly thankful you did.

We’re proud to have Natalie as one of our Members of the Month. And now we’ve got our eyes on that 35 lb dumbbell. šŸ’œ

Why do we deadlift?

Because picking something heavy up from the ground is one of the most basic things your body was built to do.

The deadlift trains your glutes, hamstrings, back, core, and grip to work together to produce force while keeping your spine stable.

But the value goes beyond getting stronger at a barbell.

Every time you pick up a heavy box, move furniture, grab groceries off the ground, or lift something heavy in everyday life, you’re using the same basic pattern.

In CrossFit, we’re not deadlifting just to improve our deadlift.

We’re building the strength to pick things up safely, move with confidence, and stay capable outside the gym.

That’s why we deadlift.

One week left. šŸ‘€

Community Cup is officially in the final stretch.

To everyone at DOD who signed up and has been putting these workouts on the board: this is the week to finish strong.

One more week of showing up, giving the workouts what you’ve got, and seeing where all that training lands you.

Don’t chase somebody else’s score. Chase the version of you that walked into this competition a little less prepared.

Finish the job.

if you have been doing the workouts every week, but you haven’t signed up yet… why not? There is still time… registration closes 8/31

We’ll see you at the whiteboard. šŸ’œ

If you’ve ever thought, ā€œMaybe CrossFit just isn’t for someone my ageā€¦ā€ we want you to meet Lynn. šŸ’œ

Lynn is one of our 6 AMers, and after joining DOD just one month ago, she’s already made our Committed Club by showing up 5 days a week.

Outside the gym, she enjoys gardening and walking her horse. Inside the gym, she’s proving that getting stronger, moving better, and challenging yourself doesn’t have an expiration date.

CrossFit isn’t about being the strongest person in the room. It’s about having a place to start, having coaches who can meet you where you are, and giving yourself permission to keep getting better.

If you’ve been telling yourself you’re too old, too out of shape, or too far behind to start…

You’re not.

Lynn is proof that you can start where you are and build from there.

Watch Lynn’s conversation with Coach Courtney and let it be the encouragement you needed to walk through the door.
