🎣 MISSISSIPPI GULF COAST SPECKLED TROUT REPORT 🎣

June is prime time for speckled trout fishing on the Mississippi Gulf Coast and the southeast Louisiana marsh. The trout are spawning and feeding heavily, so now is the time to get on the water!

📍 Areas we're targeting:
• Bay St. Louis
• Pass Christian area
• Southeast Louisiana marsh
• Shell reefs and shell keys

🐟 What to look for:
• Diving birds working shrimp and baitfish
• Shell reefs holding feeding trout
• Grass beds with clean water
• Current-moving points and drains
• Slicks popping up on the surface

🎣 Baits and rigs producing fish:

• Live croakers on a Carolina rig fished near the bottom about a 18 inch leader with a 3/0 Kahle or circle hook and a 1/2 or 3/4 egg weight.
• Soft plastics in the birds over shell reefs and shell keys
• Marker 54, Voodoo Shrimp under a popping cork
• Matrix Shad "Ghost Minnow" and Lil Slicks on a 1/4 oz jig head
• Down South Lures "Root Beer Sparkle"
• Beetle-style plastics under a loud popping cork work well.

If you're fishing live croakers around grass beds, try adding chatter weights to help attract fish and cover more water.

The key this month is finding bait, birds, and moving water. When all three come together, the trout usually aren't far away.
