Timber Harvest & Sale @ 9-Mile
Hello all:
Next Monday morning Marathon County Forest Department will be meeting with the contractor (Bell Timber) and logging sub-contractor (TNT Logging) to have a presale meeting for the pine sale west and south of the Chalet. They will start harvesting immediately after. Joe surveyed the harvest area and trails today and feel comfortable allowing them to start on the north side of the sale and work south. There are wet areas along the xc ski and single-track trails on the south side that should dry out by the time they begin work in these areas. If not, they can be avoided. We have worked TNT on 4 sales during my time here, and they do very good work.
The logger may drop off their equipment at the Chalet parking lot as early as tomorrow. Signs will be putting up “active timber sale” signs at the kiosks tomorrow, with our contact number for questions and referencing CWOCC’s website for up-to-date trail closure information and sale maps. If all goes well, the anticipated harvest will be completed by mid-June, with hauling that may continue for a week or so afterwards.
See map pdfs in comments for harvest location,
Thank you,
Joe
