The Youth Advisory Council is a committee that consists of youth between 16 to 26. The mission of the Youth Advisory Council is to inspire change by providing education, advocacy, support, training, and awareness to both the government and public to better the services provided to foster youth. Members of the Youth Advisory Council seek to help reform the system, educate and inform various aspects

of the system. Moreover, they help break stereotypes, advocate for other youth, help youth develop a wide set of skills, and finally provide a safe area for youth to communicate any of their thoughts and ideas to help build relationships and rapport. Youth get involved with the YAC for a plethora of different reasons such as: contact with other who have similar experiences; share their stories and make a difference; present their ideas and have a voice; give back and make sure youth still in foster care have positive experiences; and countless other benefits!
