I swear the dead hang has got to be one of the most underutilized exercises in most people’s routines.

I can personally tell when I get away from it as a weekly practice as my shoulders and upper back feel significantly more stiff. But when I make it a priority to hang for 30-90 seconds, 3-5 days a week, I get way more out of my shoulder exercises throughout the week, without my joints feeling beat up.

You’d be surprised the amount of adults who struggle reaching directly above their heads without restriction or discomfort. I feel these can be a great tool to help combat this issue, among the others listed.

Have a hard time staying consistent? Designate an area of your home to your gym space as an additional option for your fitness routine.

Most of these items (which I have zero affiliation with) require little to no space, cost less than most gym memberships, and gives you the convenience of having a workout space in the privacy of your own home.

Without going into detail of why I picked each individual item, I chose these tools as serve multiple purposes for many different goals. Not saying everyone needs to hop on Prime and order every item on this list, but I think these would cover a majority of the fundamental movements I teach to clients.

Training over 80 💪

Thursday mornings are always a blast! On top of running my private training gym in Wausau, I also train part time at a local gym up in Tomahawk a couple mornings a week.

Here are some highlights from Pat & Ginger’s workouts this morning, both of which are over 80 years old.

It’s never too late to start an exercise routine. The older you get, the more important it becomes to exercise, especially with resistance training. My goal every day with these two ladies is for them to leave the gym feeling better than when they came in.

Age is nothing but a mindset. Keep er movin’ friends.

I remember the first time I saw a high level sprinter do an unassisted Nordic hamstring curl & being like, man, I want to be able to do that!Been practicing these quite a bit lately and can finally do singles with consistency, but not with ease…so back to the lab we go 💪
