As of today April 30 2025 Waupaca Boat Works is no longer in operation as a business or LLC. I have often said, this is a non-profit organization with a strong emphasis on non-profit! No worries as I still look forward to building things for friends and family. Looking forward to spending time messing about in small boats and gear. Thank you to everyone has supported my part time retirement gig.

Finally, this Old Town Ideal model from 1914 is finished and in the water. A little background information about the boat. It was built in 1914, and sold to a 17 year old in Cambridge Minnesota. The boat would have cost approximately $37 back then. That was about 3 weeks wages for an adult. Being the Ideal model this boat would have had the best of everything, including Mahogany thwarts, seats, gunnels and decks. The color was originally solid green. After doing research of Old Towns history, I decided to give it a deluxe 3 color paint scheme.

Finally finished restoring the inside of this 110 year old girl. Removing the old varnish was a chore. It now has new contoured cane seats, as well as new mahogany thwarts and decks. Things should progress quickly . Over the next few weeks it will get new canvas, paint, and mahogany outwales.
