Finally got the elusive bump to Master!

Ended the day at the 2026 WI IDPA State Championship as follows -

11th of 121 shooters overall
10th of 115 pistol shooters overall
2nd of 21 Seniors (Mike Seaklander took first 😲)
9th of 73 shooters in Carry Optics
2nd of 20 in CO Expert (had to beat at least 20 Expert & Master - beat 23 🤙)

For not picking up my optics gun for a year until Tuesday, I’m very happy with where I’m sitting after staff day. Of course there were a couple bobbles throughout the day but overall no complaints, even after 4 reshoots & off/on rain & humidity 😂

As of right now 2nd place overall pistol, 3way tie for most accurate, high shooter for the 6 Carry Optics Expert shooters today with 14 more to shoot tomorrow 🤙🤞

As much as technology can help your hunt, it can also hinder it.

Friday I sat all day in a stand with no heat that Brutus has been frequenting in hopes to get another chance after my bow hunting mishap, to only see 2 deer. Saturday I decided I was going to enjoy some heat and sit where I’ve been successful the last 2yrs about 900yds away. I get a notification on my phone of a “mature buck” at the other stand at 7:45am. Brutus is back 💪 With Brutus typically returning in the afternoon, I make the choice to switch stands at 11am.

At 12:45 I get another notification from the stand I left prior…then again at 2pm, it’s Brutus 🤦‍♂️ Evidently he’s playing chess while I’m playing checkers 😩

That night we stopped at the tavern to check out the buck pool when the camera behind the bar showed a truck backing up to weigh a 🦌. One glance I knew it was him 😭

Congrats to the gal that got it done at 4pm! He ended up being a 146lb, 10pt, with an 18” spread.

Although it stings a bit, that’s hunting 🤷‍♂️ Already looking forward to next year 🤙
