You don’t need to spend 5 hours detailing your car every week to keep it looking clean.
A quick vacuum, a wash, and a wipe-down? Boom—80% clean with a fraction of the effort.

👉 Your mindset works the same way.

There are a few simple habits that make a BIG difference… and one of the most powerful is this:

What you look for = what you see more of.

Ever notice when you’re thinking about buying a new car, you suddenly see it everywhere?
That’s your brain at work—it finds what you focus on.

So here’s the catch…
If you’re focused on what’s wrong, stressful, or unfair… you’ll keep seeing more of it.
But if you train your brain to look for the good? 👀✨
You’ll start noticing more of that too.

Want a simple way to shift your mindset? Try this:

✅ Each day, write down one thing you’re grateful for

But here’s the key 👇
Don’t just write “family” or “health”

Instead write:
👉 “I’m grateful for…” + a full sentence

Example:

500 Workouts & 50 Pounds Down — What an Incredible Milestone! 🎉

Today we’re celebrating Cari M for completing 500 workouts with us! 💪

But that’s not the only milestone worth celebrating.

During the course of those 500 workouts, Cari has also achieved an amazing transformation — losing 50 pounds along the way. 👏

Her dedication, consistency, and willingness to keep showing up week after week have made a huge impact. Cari is proof that the small steps — one workout at a time — truly add up to big results.

Quick question… 👇

If tomorrow morning you could thank yourself for ONE thing you did today, what would it be?

Would it be:
💤 Going to bed earlier?
🚶 Getting a walk or workout in?
🥗 Eating something that actually fuels you?
📵 Taking a break from stress or screens?

We often think of self-care as bubble baths, chocolate, wine, or a relaxing getaway. And those things can absolutely be enjoyable.

But real self-care is often much simpler than that.

Self-care is doing things today that your future self will thank you for.

It’s the everyday habits that help you feel better physically and mentally:
✔ Moving your body
✔ Eating nourishing foods
✔ Getting enough sleep
✔ Setting boundaries with your time and energy
✔ Spending time with people who lift you up

And here’s the truth:
Self-care isn’t always convenient. Sometimes it’s the thing you don’t feel like doing… but know will help you tomorrow.

It also doesn’t have to be perfect. Just one small choice can make a difference.

1,000 Workouts Strong 💪

Some milestones are more than just numbers — they represent years of commitment, consistency, and community.

Today we’re celebrating Sue Z for completing 1,000 workouts with us! 🎉

What makes this even more special is that Sue has been with us since the very beginning. Before the doors to Orange Shoe even opened, she was showing up to work out with us outside in a local park, helping build the community that exists today.

Through early mornings, changing seasons, and hundreds of workouts later, Sue has remained a constant part of our Orange Shoe family. Her dedication, positivity, and willingness to keep showing up continue to inspire everyone around her.

Because Sue is also an avid walker around Waunakee, we wanted to celebrate this milestone with something she’ll truly use — a set of rain gear so a little Wisconsin weather won’t slow her down. 🌧️

1,000 workouts is no small feat, and we’re incredibly proud to celebrate this milestone with you, Sue.

Orange Shoe friends — help settle a gym debate 👇

What’s the hardest way to progress an exercise?

💪 More weight
⏱ Slower tempo
⬇️ Greater depth
🎯 Perfect form

Most people immediately think the answer is adding weight — but that’s actually just one way to apply progressive overload.

Progressive overload simply means gradually increasing the challenge over time so your body keeps adapting and getting stronger. If you always squat the same 10lbs to the same box height, you might see results at first — but eventually your progress will stall.

The good news? There are multiple ways to keep progressing:

💪 Weight – Increasing the load is the most obvious way to progress.

⏱ Tempo – Slowing down your reps (like taking 3 seconds to lower into a squat) increases time under tension and makes the same weight much more challenging.

⬇️ Depth – Squatting deeper improves mobility and strength at the same time.

🎯 Form – Dialing in technique can make a huge difference. Better alignment, balance, and control often unlock strength people didn’t realize they had.

Sometimes we get stuck chasing heavier weights because it’s the easiest thing to measure. But tempo, depth, and form are just as powerful — and often safer — ways to progress.

One more reminder: progress takes time.
You don’t need to push 100% every workout. Aim for about 95% effort and focus on consistency. Some days that means pushing a little further — other days it means holding steady so your body can keep improving long term.

🔥 **Client of the Month: Anja Jovic-Humphrey** 🔥

The more results you want (and the faster you want them), the more you have to be willing to do.
Daily steps.
Cleaning up nutrition.
Training consistently.
Prioritizing sleep.

That’s exactly what Anja Jovic-Humphrey has done over the last 8 weeks—and the results speak for themselves:

💪 **+10 lbs of muscle**
🔥 **–16 lbs of fat**
📉 **–14% body fat**

When Anja first joined us in January, she joked that her goal was to “unblob herself.” After dealing with asthma from mold exposure in a previous home, she found herself moving less, gaining weight, and feeling stuck in a negative cycle.

But she didn’t stay there.

Once she got started, the progress became addictive. She cleaned up her nutrition, focused on eating more protein, and started riding her stationary bike every day—turning it into a full-on dance party with loud music and off-key singing. 🎶🚴‍♀️

But the biggest game changer? Strength training!

Anja has always been active—she even spent 10 years as a contemporary dancer—but lifting weights challenged her body in completely new ways. Her muscles and brain both had to adapt to something unfamiliar… and they did.

Now, for the first time in her life (in her mid-40s!) she can see definition in her arms and shoulders. 💪

That kind of change is empowering. Not just physically, but mentally too. Anja says the biggest transformation has been rediscovering her vitality and confidence.

Outside the gym, Anja stays busy teaching literature and writing at UW-Madison, raising her 9-year-old daughter, and recently returning to another passion—stand-up comedy. 🎤

We couldn’t be more proud of the work she’s put in and the mindset she’s built along the way.

🥞🌮🥣 Meal Prep + Nutrition Workshop Recap! 💪

On Saturday we had an awesome time combining fitness, nutrition, and meal prep to set everyone up for a healthier week ahead!

Together we prepped three simple, high-protein meals, each yielding 4–8 servings to make weekday eating easier and stress-free:

✅ Protein Pancakes – a quick, high-protein breakfast option
✅ Taco Supreme – a balanced, satisfying lunch or dinner
✅ Yogurt Parfaits – perfect for lunch or a light breakfast

Everyone also received the nutrition facts for each meal, making it easy to stay on track with calories, protein, and overall goals throughout the week.

While everything was cooking, we also spent time discussing general nutrition strategies, including:
• How to build balanced meals
• The importance of protein and nutrient timing
• Simple habits that make healthy eating sustainable

These workshops are all about learning, preparing food together, and leaving with meals ready for the week — plus practical nutrition knowledge you can use every day.
