Pinnacle Bike Championship racing consists of heat races with 10 riders competing head-to-head down the mountain, dropping 1,500 vertical feet in under three minutes. Riders navigate a custom built track with ample passing room on natural, rough and steep terrain, launching gap jumps of up to 70 feet, plunging off 40 foot drops and reaching speeds of 60mph. Competition in the Pinnacle Bike Champio

nship is by invitation only, with 100 invites going out to the greatest riders on the planet. Pinnacle athletes are skilled bike handlers and compete on downhill mountain bikes made of carbon fiber, equipped with front and rear suspension and hydraulic disc brakes. Fans will enjoy watching, as 100% of the track is on the open slopes offering unprecedented viewing access for spectators and on TV. All of this combines to provide a never-before-seen spectacle showcasing what can be achieved on a bicycle when the limits of the equipment and riders’ abilities are pushed.

Bryn Atkinson 1st place “All in all turned out to be pretty fun, and the concept was good. I do think there is room for this type of event to take off with the right support from our industry. The helmet cams don't do a track like this justice. It was mega gnarly, high speeds on a steep ski slope, littered with bomb holes and rocks. It really was impressive seeing a track like this ridden by some of the best. I knew the final was going to be wild, everyone was going for it. I rode it like I stole it to the bottom. Stoked to come away with the win!!” Photo: Seba Films

"S*k Mik" Mick Hannah 2nd place at “I've been racing for a while, doing all kinds of races, I knew that the terrain here was really rough even if it doesn't look like it. 10 riders going down at the same time on one gnarly track, hitting big jumps and crazy speed, this one was definitely something new and I really enjoyed it. I won qualifying and all my heats. But in the final I got a bad start and battled my way from 6th to 2nd! I can't wait to race next year !" Hutchinson UR Team

Fabien Cousinié 3rd place “I always love try different style of racing and this race format was definitely something I was curious about. When I first got to Waterville Valley Resort I thought the track was going to be super easy because, but during first practice I almost broke my ankle. You'd be a fool to think that you can make it down in one piece on a hardtail. I used my 4X background to take a good start and make some passes to end up 3rd, something that I'm really stoked about! Especially, as a team owner, after this busy trade show marathon. It was definitely a new experience racing with those guys, at 70km/h, bar to bar, I can't imagine how good Pinnacle racing is going to be once it gets more momentum.” Photo: Hutchinson UR Team

Matt Simmonds 4th place “I was a bit unsure about how this new and exciting race format was going to workout. After a few scary moments in practice it was clear that the 10 man final was going to be wild. Great starts from Bryn, Fabien & also super high speed over takes from Mick left me in 4th spot. I honestly can’t believe how fast we were going over such unpredictable terrain. All in all a great weekends racing & I can see there being a future for events like this .” Saracen Bikes photo: Seba Films

5th place Graeme Pitts, Pro Downhill Biker “ was by far the most fun race I had this whole season! Pure elbow-to-elbow racing is what I really enjoy. The start gate for finals was intense, 9 other top-level racers all lined up and chomping at the bit to be released like the running of the bulls was a feeling I haven't experienced before. The thrill of passing and jumping with the racers at full speed was exactly what racing we need! It was wild! "S*k Mik" Mick Hannah was on a mission for the front and the intensity was absurd, but so freaking awesome! I am really excited to do more of these events .” photo: Steve Bryan / Waterville Valley Resort

Fabien Cousinié and Bryn Atkinson flying in unison through the fog down Waterville Valley Resort at . Good clear vision was key! The riders did a great job of getting comfy at high speeds and off jumps trusting each other and being able to race each other. Just the beginning!
